Bands That You Like The Music, Even Though You Hate The Singer

Are there any bands that you like the music of, even though you hate the lead singer's voice?

Maybe Portishead, although I haven't listened to them enough, since I don't like the singer.

I like that 10,000 Maniacs song "Like the Weather", even though I hate Natalie Merchant with the intensity of a thousand suns.

Quite a few metal bands would be great, if they lost the vocals.

if I don't like the sound of a singer's voice, I also can't like the band... the two are inseperable for me...so no.

I like the music of a lot of those metal bands, but those cookie monster vocals completely ruin it for me.

I might like the Doors if it wasn't for Jim Morrison. I hate his voice, his lyrics, his persona...well, really everything about him.

The voice for the lead singer of The Hives can wear thin with me pretty quickly, but their music helps me get in its spirit...

The Dave Matthews Band is a great example of a band that I know is good, but I just cannot for the life of me get past D.M.'s goofy, yokel vocals...

The subject line is slightly deceiving. I like bands where I hate the lead singer as a person. But like their voice. Depeche Mode immediately comes to mind. Dave Gahan is a complete egomaniac. Great great voice. Pompous ass though.

Never been a fan of Frank Black/Black Francis, but I like the Pixies.

There are definitely bands I'd be more into if I didn't find the vocals as bland (or in some cases grating):

The Dismemberment Plan (slightly grating)
Wilco (bland)
Blur (quite grating)
Black Mountain (just weird)
The Microphones (boring)
Doves (way boring)
Stereolab (too forced)
The Rapture (boring AND grating)
Franz Ferdinand (boring)
etc.

I still like all these bands, just generally not for the vocals.

I would -kinda- like Pearl Jam if Eddie Veder wasn't such an arrogant closed minded punk ass bitch who thinks he's god's gift to music.

Oh wait, this is based on not liking the singer's voice....He sucks as a singer too.

That post- David Byrne/Pere Ubu keening, whining yelp of a voice that many bands seem to have adopted can be either reeeeally annoying (see Clap Your Hands, Say Yeah! or Bright Eyes) or work in the context of the music (see Wolf Parade and Arcade Fire) to me.

Maybe your thinking about Scott Stapp and Creed. It's a common mistake.
