My eyes! My ears! It's Chipz!

Looking over the German charts for any good European music I might be missing out on over here (Texas Lightning perhaps, although their album seems covers-heavy) I stumble across...

Chipz

What the fuck. I thought Europop had stooped to its lowest with Aqua. Well, OK, "Barbie Girl" is still worse, but this is awful.

And wait, it gets horridly worse.

I was briefly afraid that this was Germany attacking us with bad Europop, but I can rest at ease: It's the Dutch.

The Italians gave us Eiffel 65 (fun fact: "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" was #1 in Latvia for 10 weeks in a row), the Dano-Norwegians gave us Aqua, ... And I guess it was time for the Netherlands to do their worst.

For the record, I don't think all Europop is bad: the Vengaboys are better than any of these people, "Popcorn" is not a bad song as long as Daniel Malmedahl has nothing to do with it, and you can't fault Sweden for either ABBA or Ace of Base (admit it, you liked them!).

But golly... Chipz is BAD.

I love when people bitch about how Superior European entertainment is. Then shit like this pops up and all I can do is shake my head in wonder.

Sounds like something that would be on a Dance Dance Revolution soundtrack. Isn't this just music for kids anyway?

Europeans should really stick to heavy metal. They really, really don't get pop music.

Continental Europeans maybe. The British get it just fine.

It's music that's made for dance clubs or small children. It's not music that is supposed to be "listened to" as serious entertainment and certainly not art. The problem is when knuckleheads don't realize the former and claim it's the latter. Everyone with sense and/or good taste should know the difference.

Let it be what it is and don't expect it to be more.

They are. But not as prestigious as Pee-Wee's bike.

Which explains why he has a cellphone.

He looks like he has that "yup, i'm on my cellphone driving around in my monster SUV" look on his face.

As for the bike...

Is that a banana seat and streamers?

Looks like someone went chrome crazy with an 8yr old girls bike.

They have one video which I find to be amazingly hilarious. They're singing about something and then these aliens come down to do a dance off. They dance and then the Chipz people do their horribly choreographed dance and then they win and act like they saved the world. You have to see it.
