"HIM". Ok, I've finally heard this group...
...and now I know who belongs to the friggin "Heartagram" symbol that I've been seeing for years.
Anyway, I listened to their new Cd "Dark Light" in BORDERS and I bought it. I like this group.
Then I went a purchased "Love Metal".
Any other fans out there? What can you tell me 'bout 'em?

I've heard their stuff in CKY/Jackass videos and on Viva La Bam. I like what I'm hearing but have yet to get a cd.

I've got Dark Light. It's nothing spectacular, but it's not too bad. A friend suggested their older works, whatever those may be. He said they are a bit harder.

I heard one of thier (his?) songs and it didnt impress me all that much.
Problem is that when i see those posters/shirts/whatever that say "HIM" on them i think of that Powerpuff Girls badguy HIM....that (non-executive) transvestite devil.

My biggest bitch about HIM is that he/they/whatever are hyped so DAMN much by Bam Margera (is there some connection between the two? Am I missing something?) that I am irritated by the sight of the logo, let alone anything else. I think that being hyped by Bam will soon become the kiss of death to everything he touches (the Bam backlash is, thank..well, HIM....well underway).
TO BAM: It's hard to be a rebel driving a Mercedes and a Hummer.

Personally, I can't stand Bam so his "endorsement" didn't mean dick to me. I had to laugh at BORDER'S cd description because they made is sound like HIM was this ultra heavy metal band.
I guess that's what happens when fuckin' COLDPLAY fans write those descriptions.
Anyway, I like 'em.

I bought "Razorblade Romance" back when it was on sale for under ten bucks.
There are a couple of okay songs on it -- the cover of "Wicked Game" and "Sweet 666" -- but I can't help thinking this is what the Backstreet Boys would sound like if they did a metal album.

Just the name always made me think it was a Christian Rock band (not that that's necessarily a bad thing), then I saw a TV commerical with Bam in it and thought that was weird. First impressions or guesses can be weird sometimes.

I first heard of them when we vacationed in Scandinavia in 2003. They were all over Sweden and Finland. The albums looked like serious heavy-metal (which wouldn't be surprising consider the tastes in Scandinavia) but when I finally listened to one I was underwhelmed. Not terrible, but certainly not metal.

Like I said earlier, calling them METAL is the mistake everyone's making and I don't get it. I'm an old school metal fan and HIM is NOT METAL....

Apparently it's a new genre referred to as "love metal"....Metallica + The Cure? I don't know, dig their sound though.
Now that you're a fan, you have to wear black...and you can go to Hot Topic and buy all their shit...and put pink stickers on your car...and meet 16 year olds who "don't fit in".

I've always thought it humerous that kids that "don't fit in" go to the mall to but their "sub-culture/cult" dressings.

I went to the mall with this girl on Friday and the first thing out of her mouth when we walked in was, "I HATE HOT TOPIC".

I just saw a car with the HIM logo, only it said "HER" underneath. I'm not sure if that's supposed to be a dig or not, but it got a double-take from me.

Been a fan for years, hence the name. Dark Light is my least favourite album of all there works
Razorblade Romance
Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights are by far my favourite albums they have done.
This was done before they signed a deal with Warner Brothers to get the music distributed over here they had to change the name because of another artist had the same.

FYI -
Bam hypes them so much because they are not only his favorite band, but HIM is signed in the U.S. to Jimmy Franks Recording Company (at least, Razorblade Romance was) and JFRC is run by Jimmy Pop, lead singer of Bloodhound Gang and fellow Pennsylvania screw-up. And one of Bam's best buds. Ahhh....now it all makes sense ! :-)
