I enjoyed this thread. Well, aside from seeing how much money I do spend! I wish it would have stayed a sticky, it made more sense and kept the thread much cleaner just to edit posts for new purchases.

Having kept up best I could with my purchases made it easier for my little year-end cd I do. I basically take me favorites from the years' purchases and compile them, and being able to come back here and see what I got was great.

I think I've averaged about $8 per for the year, but that's including everything (45's as well). Outside of Christmas presents, I've got probably another 8 discs coming from yourmusic.com, and then that'll be it for the year!

Amazingly, I purchased exactly 100 albums this year. I really enjoyed this thread....hopefully Giles will start a new one for 2007.

Finished my list with the last 2 additions. A total of $740.12 spent.

In the past 4 or 5 years the only time I would buy a CD was if Pearl Jam or Sleater-Kinney had a new album out. Thanks to Torrent sites and newsgroups, I was able to listen to a ton of stuff this year and ended up purchasing a shitload more CDs and discovering artists like Muse & Regina Spektor. Just another example of how file-sharing is killing the music industry

I bought 297 CDs in 2006, which approximates to somewhere in the neighborhood of about $8500 (Cdn). (a lot of them were expensive Japanese imports and way OOP collector's items on eBay)

I haven't even kept track of the DVDs or books.

I bought about 175 CDs from Tower Records in Oct to Dec during their going out of business sale. It cost me about $850, though I've recouped about $300 of that so far by selling off some of them.
