The idea behind that collaborative article was just to write a blurb about certain songs we liked throughout the year and put them all together as a list of very different songs that we find interesting. If anything, I think it shows the diversity of tmters' taste in music.
btw, thanks for reading.
The vitriol wasn't a personal attach. I've actually read Tiny Mix Tapes a few times and have found it pretty good. I just have a problem with any "best of" lists that seem to inclusive to "Billboard Top 100" charts or only indie or under-the-radar releases. What I do like about Pitchfork is that they review rap albums and singles (although sporadically). So far, I don't know of any site that reviews absolutely every kind of music. PopMatters comes very, very close. Their reviews are usually lagged by a few days or weeks so I don't go to their site as often, especially since it's near-impossible to find what they've reviewed in the past. That's more of qualm with their site as opposed to their content.Originally Posted by Penny Lane

yeah, i know what you mean. it's really difficult for us to find writers with diverse musical interests. most applicants are college students who are interested in really weird indie stuff, the kind of music that appears in our alternate best-of list.Originally Posted by The Bus

The only one on their that I recognized was Jandek, and that is because SPIN did an article on him a few months ago.
AFAIK, I've never heard any of the music on that list.

Seems like most people haven't heard much on the list. There is a bunch of good stuff to check out and seems like people might need to go soulseeking if you know what I mean. Note to the mods: Nothing on that list is RIAA protected.

Just because the RIAA isn't enforcing copyright violations on these albums doesn't mean they're not protected by copyright law. Unless the artists specifically say it is OK to share/sample their music. (As say, DMB and others have done with their live material).Originally Posted by ChrisKnudsen

You could have told me that the list was the WORST album covers of the year and I would have believed you.
Seriously.

Any album cover that references Tintin in Tibet is A OK with me.

Fine then. Use that thing that you can only use for 10 hours and type in those bands that are on that list and listen to hear if you like it or not. Alright DVDtalker below this post, right what that thing is called.Originally Posted by The Bus
