Sufjan Stevens - Hark! Songs for Christmas

Has anyone else heard this yet? Really good stuff. Very traditional, beautifully produced...most of the tracks fall on the religious side of the spectrum. Definitely worth obtaining up if you're a Sufjan fan or a fan of Christmas music. Speaking of obtaining, I'm pretty sure it's a legal download (none of the sites that have it are trying to hide it and heard about where to get it on the radio) but won't post any links just in case it's not.

Here's the tracklisting:

Hark! Songs for Christmas Vol. I
1. Silent Night
2. O Come O Come Emmanuel
3. We're Goin' to the Country!
4. Lo! How a Rose E'er Blooming
5. It's Christmas! Let's Be Glad
6. Holy, Holy, Etc.
7. Amazing Grace

Hark! Songs for Christmas Vol. II
1. Angels We Have Heard on High
2. Put the Lights on the Tree
3. Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing
4. I Saw Three Ships
5. Only at Christmastime
6. Once in David's Royal City
7. Hark! the Herald Angels Sing
8. What Child Is This Anyway?
9. Bring a Torch, Jeannette, Isabella

Ding! Dong! Songs for Christmas Vol. III
1. O Come O Come Emmanuel (alt. version)
2. Come On! Let's Boogie to the Elf Dance!
3. We Three Kings of Orient Are
4. O Holy Night
5. That Was the Worst Christmas Ever
6. All the King's Horns
7. Ding! Dong!
8. The Friendly Beasts

After listening to all of it, it is definitely worth searching out. I'm going to assume that Sufjan wrote "Come On! Let's Boogie to the Elf Dance!" It's a pretty kick ass Christmas song. Overall, one of the best Christmas collections I've heard in a long time...

Nope he's a Christian. There's actually some veiled Christian lyrics in his songs.

I've got to thank the DVDTalkers for helping me discover Sufjan Stevens...I just got Illinois the other day because so many people had it on their top 10 lists...and my GOD it's great. I'll get to the Christmas songs after I spin Illinois a few more times.

Actually it's a traditional Quanza song, Sufjan just "Americanized it"

I stumbled upon this when I was looking for versions of "Lo, How a Rose E're Blooming" and am loving it. I put in a reserve request for Illinois at the library (the only CD of his they carry) and can't wait until it comes in.
