I am just not able to get into Merzbow at all. Or, for that matter, any 'noise' artist. I've tried, and listened to many tracks, but just can't do it. I'm not even sure how people can listen to it for very long. I can always find something in a genre of music where I can understand how people would like it. The noise genre, I can't.

The whole idea of noise is to frustrate the mind, you can't listen to noise at ease. Its sort of like having this frustration and then you can easily deal with it by turning off the audio but why should you? It is frustration that you can loathe but you can control it. Also, noise music when it is at its best, unpredictable but yet can follow a melody. Most noise artists usually don't explore that area but the great ones (like the Norwegian 2 piece Ovo) have and I think down the line when noise is considered to be this generation's punk rock, groups like Ovo or the Yellow Swans will be the equivent to the Buzzcocks and Sham 69 instead of the countless Killed by Death punk bands that only released a 7" or two.
