he is certainly a divisive force here.
I think there is no redemption. |
Edit:
1. Aphex Twin 2. maxfisher 3. Flynn 4. BadlyDrawnBoy 5. illennium 7. DJLinus 8. Damfino 6-Gilles It is complete now..... Ciao, Pro-B |
Thanks Pro-B for the vote for me.. Sadly it won't count. :(
You have to vote for each pair to have any votes count. Flynn, BDB and Giles suffer as well from not getting those votes. |

But, does it deserve to be on your list: no |
Aphex Twin[/b] vs. ryuryu2949
Aphex Twin 1. The Beatles: Rubber Soul ryuryu29492. Miles Davis: Kind of Blue 3. The Jimi Hendrix Experience [box set] 4. My Bloody Valentine: Loveless 5. Massive Attack: Blue Lines 6. Nas: Illimatic 7. Boards of Canada: Music Has The Right To Children 8. John Coltrane: A Love Supreme 9. Built to Spill: Keep It Like a Secret 10. Aphex Twin: Richard D James Album 1. The Beatles: Ultimate Box Set [box set] 2. Guns N' Roses: Appetite for Destruction 3. 2Pac: All Eyez On Me 4. Wilco: Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 5. Weezer: Weezer ("Blue Album") (Deluxe Edition) 6. Beck: Odelay 7. A Tribe Called Quest: The Low End Theory 8. Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds: Live at Luther College 9. Bob Marley: Legend 10. Goldie: Timeless Ok, now for a defense of the entire matchup. I really like Aphex's picks. I don't really know Board's of Canada, but the rest of his picks are all good, if not great. I say vote for me for two reasons. First, my picks "rock" harder. Sure, you can get down a bit to Hendrix, but other than that, the rest of the picks (aside from Rubber Soul, which IS IN my boxset) are all very mellow. Nothing like GnR or Weezer. Second, I think his album selection is missing a crucial era: mid-late 90s music, which I think is wholly underrated. I have got Weezer, Beck, Wilco, and Pac; he has Aphex Twin, which is its own unique genre. My overall assessment: - You can cancel (or give me a slight edge) when combining his picks of Rubber Soul (Beatles) and Hendrix (box/pioneer black musician who died too early) with my Beatles box (Beatles/box) and Marley (pioneer black musician who died too early). - Cancel out (or give him a slight edge) the Massive Attack and Goldie picks). - Cancel out (or give him a very slight advantage) the duplicative jazz (Miles and Coltrane) and his Nas pick with my hip hop picks (the monumental 2pac album and the very jazzy Tribe album). - Give me a HUGE advantage on the rock-ish picks, GnR and Weezer vs. My Bloody Valentine and Built to Spill. Huge. - Give me a big advantage with the esoteric and genre bending Beck vs. a similarly themed Boards of Canada. - Left with the acoustic Dave Matthews album vs. a good Aphex Twin album--not really a compatible matchup, but I would concede that one. Just my thoughts on this. Good luck this round. |
1. Aphex
2. Maxfisher 3. Cdollaz 4. Badly 5. Vryce 6. Giles 7. DJlinus 8. Damfino |

If you look at my post with my votes, there is no edits. I know its already figured out. But I just got back from and eye exam and missed the last couple pages. I did waht others did. Quoted their votes to give explanations. But my original post with my votes never changed. Sorry you lost auto, but it was a close race. Very good pick of 10 albums you had. Sorry for the confusion Vyrce. Things got a little crazy there for a second. Your "explanation" post threw me off because I was counting and re-counting the votes over and over again. I should have remembred that you voted first! Good luck buddy. :) |

I should have remembred that you voted first! Good luck buddy. :) Looks like I'll be joining you and others from Round 1 on the sidelines shortly. I'm down a few votes at this point, and don't think I can come from behind. In our round 1 race, I held a lead of 1 or two votes. And every vote you got, I got one in return. That helped propell me to Round 2. But it was a very good race. |
1- ryuryu2949 (of course! again, please don't overlook the Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds acoustic album)
2- maxfisher (a great live album [queen] and my favorite group [pink floyd] gets max the nod) 3- flynn (Travis is a great pick, as is Floyd, Pumpkins, and Dave Matthews (lol)) 4- badlydrawnboy (best overall matchup, and very tight) 5- vryce (Floyd, billie, and Portishead is a heck of a 1-2-3... maybe one of the favorites to win it all) 6- jimdrix (revolver and who's next, two of the best albums released before I was born) 7- cleaver (simply a 'who's who' of 20th Century music) 8-mordred (random thought: someone should mash-up Michael Jackson and metallica--might be weird enough to be good). Ok, and I promise to not edit this for fear of my vote being disqualified. |
1. Aphex Twin - voted for this list because it's more music geeky. and i am one.
2. maxfisher - still has more of my fav albums than the opponent. 3. cdollaz - same reasoning as first round. 4. Lokimok - same. even though i just can't dig rid of me like her other works. 5. illenium - less pop, more challenge. 6. jimdrix - you're lucky you're not going against purple rain. :) 7. DJLinus - same as before. 8. Damfino - i love the score. |

It was referring to digital saying that pro-b's votes of voting for all the gays. |
p.s. i don't dig the tiebreaker. not because i lost, but because it doesn't seem like everyone (including myself) was able to participate, or even know it existed due to having to work on a weekday morn.

I thought that too Hollowegen.. It was only open for an hour. I was away and I'm sure others missed it as well. I think mabe a little more time would have been necessary. It would have delayed round 2 though. So not sure what the optimal solution would have been.

1. ryuryu2949 - Hello? Complete Beatles?
2. maxfisher - Hello? Complete Pink Floyd? 3. Flynn - More stuff I like; I was looking at Siamese Dream and Wish You Were Here 4. BadlyDrawnBoy - Ten is the best rock album since the 70s IMO 5. Vryce - Similar to my collection but he votes against me in everything every round 6. jimdrix - Hello? Revolver? 7. cleaver 8. Mordred - Tough matchup, but Mordred should be a favorite, but this is so random I'm not going to go pick by pick and say how great every one of my albums are. I'm gonna go artist by artist. My 2 favorite guitarrists - Hendrix & Page Dominant west coast producer of last 20 years - Dr. Dre Dominant east coast producer of last 20 years - RZA Who I consider the 3 dominant rock bands. - The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zep The greatest songwriter - Paul Simon I would argue every album I took represents the artists' opus My favorite songs - Stairway, CREAM, Into the Mystic, The Boxer, Angel, Nothin' But a G Thing, Purple Haze, You Can't Always Get what you Want, Day in the Life, and Pusherman to name a few I hope I'm not losing points because I didn't draft anything esoteric. |
Do NOT edit your posts, people. Hiro11 edited his post on the first page, so now I and a bunch of others lose a vote.

Zep and The Beatles helped, but Wu Tang and De. Dre knocked you down. In my eyes. Just the luck of the draw. I do feel you have a strong draft collection though. |

Oh.. I see that the post he edited was predictions.. confused me... |
1. Aphex Twin. MVP: My Bloody Valentine, Massive Attack. LVP: Dave Matthews.
2. ChrisKnudsen. Very tough call. MVP: T. Rex, Neutral Milk Hotel, Magnetic Fields. LVP: Slayer, U2. 3. cdollaz. OK Computer destroys The Bends in my book, and Flynn has a lot of weak Britpop. MVP: Frank Black, Elvis Costello. LVP: U2, Dave Matthews Band. 4. BadlyDrawnBoy. Tough call. BDB's list hurts him more than that of his competitor, but ultimately that Jam set carries him. MVP: The Jam, Joy Division. LVP: U2, Chili Peppers. 5. illennium. Vryce may very well take this one. His list has some serious top 40 power as well as some appeals to the older voters. Good luck to him. 6. Giles. MVP: The Chemicals, DJ Shadow. LVP: Elton John. 7. DJLinus. If I were stuck on a desert island with cleaver's collection, I'd have nothing to listen to, as I already know the albums too well. They're great, but DJLinus' list is more challenging. MVP: The Flaming Lips, Pulp. LVP: James (not Helmet!). 8. Damfino. I'm a music geek; I follow the Youth. MVP: Sonic Youth, The Stones. LVP: Vaughan, Opeth. |
