Will There Ever Be Anyone As Creative As Early Bowie?

When Bowie was around in the 70's, he made some of the most creative and iconic music known to mankind. Suffragette City, Starman, Jean Genie, Rebel Rebel, Heroes...so many incredibly inventive, vibrant and challenging songs. He also defied convention with his appearance - no-one else was walking around with a mullet hair-style with a frizzy top and tails like he had. In my neck of the woods, women were even adopting this hairstyle. I understand, though, that America was relatively late in catching on as it was going through a James Taylor phase at that time. Anyway, in relation to Bowie, let me just say that he came, he saw, he conquered...and his legacy will live for years and years.

Who cares what Bowie was back then. Talent is talent regardless of whom you sleep with.

I'd add Marvin Gaye, Todd Rundgren, Prince, Radiohead and Lewis Taylor to that list.

I think you're right. The combination of creative energy, and the then standard to release an album a year meant that Bowie was always trying new things. Today someone really talented releases a couple of albums and goes into hiding for half the decade.

Hell I think Bowie's more recent material is still 10,000x more creative than Beck, Bjork, and Radiohead put together they =
