Best "actor" band?

I was thinking about this today. There have been a ton of actors that have tried their hand in music. What band that has one or more actors do you think is the best?

I'd say 30 Seconds to Mars is. Jared Leto is a great vocalist, and their new cd is different enough to distance themselves from other bands in the genre. It's a great cd.

30 Seconds to Mars is definately a great band, and Leto has a surprisingly good voice. I don't know of very many other "actor" bands, so there's not much I can compare them to. I know Keanu Reeves was in a band called Dogstar (guitar, I think?), but I only heard one song and it sucked.

30 Seconds to Mars, without a doubt. The first cd was pretty good, but the new one is definately the best cd i've gotten this year.

BTW, they just announced a new tour today....with Audioslave and Seether

Speaking of the new CD from 30 Seconds to Mars, what's with the copy protection on this thing? I wanted to make a copy for my wife's car and I thought I was going to have to call some sort of tech support. I don't buy many new CDs, but I'd never seen anything like that before.

I saw 30 Seconds to Mars live a couple years back and then again with Chevelle and Taproot in July. Big improvement. Leto has a pretty good stage presence and a good voice. I haven't bought the new CD, but I might pick it up if I see it on sale or used.

He doesn't really have a band, but William Shatner's last CD "Has Been" was excellent.

what about Jack Black's "Tenacious D"

I've never listened to it, but it's suppose to be funny/decent.

I would say Phantom Planet although I guess they don't count anymore since Jason Schwartzman left.

I totally forgot about Tenacious D. Jack Black's got a great voice, and it's a good disc, it's not quite as solid as 30 Seconds to Mars, and definately doesn't get as much play around here.

Yeahbut Jack Black is a singer turned actor, not vice versa.

For that matter, Frank Sinatra would win...

Now actors to singers? Jim Nabors, hands down!

It still counts. The lead singer, Alex Greenwald, was in Donnie Darko and a few other movies.

I liked Alessandro Nivola's vocals on the Laurel Canyon soundtrack
