...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead - World's Apart

So Source Tags and Codes was a surprising find last year. I was a bit turned off by the band name but after actually listening to the record it proved to be good stuff.

I just recently decided to give the new record a listen. I was prepared to hate it, especially after the lukewarm reception the album received on this forum, and an initial listening turned me off.

After giving it a few more listens it has really grown on me and has surpassed Source Tags and Codes. SC & T had a great beginning, petered out towards the middle, and then finished strong. Worlds Apart feels very consistent throughout though and I don't catch myself skipping any tracks.

Did anyone else give this another listen and actually enjoy it?

I really liked it. I don't think it was as good or as strong as Source Tags but I can say I think it is easily their second best behind Source Tags. I thought it was much better than their debut or Madonna.

What kind of music is this? I saw their cd the other day and almost picked it up based on me had hearing of the name alone, but I couldn't remember if I had heard of it in a good way or not.

I guess I would I classify it as "pretentious art rock" if that is an actual genre.

I'm no good at describing these things.

I'd say a heavier than typical indie rock. Or is that kind of the same thing?
