Kevin Federline Recording Debut Album

Britney Spears' husband, Kevin Federline, is hard at work on his yet untitled first disc, a collection of torch songs "set to a hip-hop beat", according to the singers' spokesman. First single will sent to radio October 25.

In related news, Kevin Federline's Ex Shar Jackson is looking To Follow In Britney's Footsteps. This news article from VH1:

Mother of Britney's stepkids recording album with her pop group, Mpulz.

by Corey Moss

Shar Jackson wants something Britney Spears has.

A music career.

The former "Moesha" star, in the spotlight lately for recently giving birth to her second child with Spears' husband, Kevin Federline, is going full force in 2005 with her long-in-development pop group, Mpulz.

"It's a five-girl group, multiracial, pop, R&Bish, really, really, funky," Jackson said of the group at VH1's Big in '04 Awards (see "Craziness, Politics, And Plenty Of 'Reality' At VH1 Big In '04 Awards").

Mpulz first appeared on 2001's "The Princess Diaries" soundtrack, but lineup changes have delayed the release of their debut album, which will feature some familiar producers and guests.

"I'm not gonna say yet, I want it to be a big surprise, but it's some really incredible people," Jackson said.

The album will include material written by Jackson about her situation with Federline, which served as tabloid fodder for months. The first single, "Hot Girls," is due early next year. "It's kind of fitting because, you know, we're hot girls," Jackson said.

Meanwhile, Jackson is also shooting a reality show about her life. "It's just following the life of a single mom in Hollywood, you know, just raising her kids and doing her thing," she said.

And how are the young ones? "They're awesome," she said, obviously missing them. "Don't talk about them, I'm gonna cry."

One sentence about Mr. Spears, and the rest of the article about his ex? You could have made the thread title a little clearer. I would have been interested to learn what kind of talent he thinks he possesses, and to hear more about how anybody can record and release an album if you know somebody (or in this case, marry somebody) in the biz.

cdollaz 08-09-05 01:38 PM

Are you really complaining about that?

Should have waited another minute for the edit. ;)

Here's wishing him a successful concert tour in the tradition of Buddy Holly, Patsy Cline, Jim Croce, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ricky Nelson, Otis Redding, and Stevie Ray Vaughan!

cdollaz 08-09-05 02:34 PM

BTW, Mpulz is one of the most stupid names ever for a group, pop or otherwise.

In Kevins' words from US Weekly - "My album is influenced by Eminem. Hes all over it in terms of style. Think of Eminem, but I'm a soul guy, so theres some Nat King Cole in there too."

I'm so excited!

Federline Rap Posted on Internet

Thu Nov 3, 4:22 PM ET

The dawn of Kevin Federline's hip-hop career has begun, though it remains to be seen if it will last past breakfast. A track by Federline was posted on the Internet by Disco D, the producer of his upcoming album, "The Truth," to be released next year.

Though the song has since been taken off Disco D's Web site, it has popped up elsewhere, giving a glimpse of Mr. Britney Spears' rhyming, um, abilities.

"Back then, they called me K-Fed, but you can call me Daddy instead," he intones in the chorus of "Y'all Ain't Ready."

Over an industrial beat reminiscent of Kelis' "Milkshake," Federline represents himself as a brash, newsworthy figure ahead of his time. "People always asking me when's the release date / Well, baby you can wait and see, until then all these Pavarottis followin' me," he raps, nicknaming paparazzi after the Italian opera singer.

Tabloids might remark that their photographers are actually focused on his pop star wife. Before meeting Spears, Federline's career was mostly limited to backup dancing. The couple wed last year and had a son in September.

Already garnering comparisons to Vanilla Ice, Federline's album appears destined for late-night punch lines. But the 27-year-old does anticipate some backlash from his musical pursuits: "My prediction is that y'all gonna hate on the style we create, straight 2008."

It's somehow worse than you'd imagine.

Hospitaller 11-04-05 09:25 AM

I saw a story a couple weeks back where he played some early cuts of his music for britney and she was actually laughing at it. and he was pretty upset about that.

so if even she is laughing at it (and she married the oxygen thief) it must be tremendously bad.

I like how you can't expose his music for the shit that it is without being a hata'. It's not the "music," it's the haters which are the problem here.

Sounds like most of the stuff I hear coming from teenager's cars now. At least he enjoys his own song.

I will not be buying this album.

"Simple, simple, simple right there." That's his summary? While I agree with him, I don't think that it's actually a compliment.

Did you notice that Federline sings like one line in that whole song? Wow, that must have taken him minutes.

Sure he's a fuck up. However, he's living a good life at the moment (probably always will). I seriously doubt he will always have britney paying for everything though.

big whoppa 01-28-06 02:47 AM

He's got to be a better dancer than he is a singer/rapper.

What are all those guitars doing in the studio?
