Is there a web site similar to imdb, but for music?

...specifically, I'm looking for chart information, album sales, names of studio musicians playing on a particular record, etc.

AMG, as mentioned, is excellent. I thought I would pipe in and also mention Amazon as a good source of release dates for CDs and label information.

If you're looking for reviews, besides AMG you can try Pitchfork, Pop Matters, and the online sites for music magazines.

Note AMG usually slacks for their reviews and only puts them up a week or two later.

www.allmusic.com is probably the best and closest resource to that on IMDB.

Internet Music Data Base would be IMDB, so try www.IMDB.com.

Even with a T1 line the site drives me insane.

They really need to spruce up their backend.

Don't forget to click enter twice so you don't go to the movie one, and if that doesn't work, say "music" into your mouse.

you know maybe I'm not doing something right, but I've been sitting here for 4 hours saying "music" into my mouse but nothing is happening, I even tried saying "porn" into it as well with no luck.

Make sure your speakers aren't on 'mute.'
