Does a "Sold Out" concert really mean what it states
alright, I know it was my fault for letting the Snow Patrol (9:30 Club) show sell out on me, but does "Sold Out" really mean: sold out? I know I could probably just stand outside the 9:30 the night of, but is there any secrets to see if there are any tickets still floating around for sale?

For the larger venues which 9:30 appears not to be, based on who plays there, tickets are released on the day of the show, and in the week before.
These are typically tickets that were returned for whatever reason, some of the ones set aside for corporate packages etc.
I'm surprised they sold out, and they did here in SF too, I swapped Keane tickets for the show as keane was the same night as moby.
Easiest way is craigslist.

Yeah, what BDB said.
Tickets are often released at the last minute for various reasons, but not always. It can be a risky gamble if you were really counting on going and get DEN13D.

there are some for sale there you'll pay over the ask, but not too much
given a 25 dollar ticket and 8 dollar in convenience fees.
I too am very excited to see Embrace.

Same as others have stated...tickets are always released for many reasons. However you have to be at the right place and time to get them.
IF you are going alone just go the show. Many opportunities should be available to get a ticket outside the venue. There are always a few people who get stuck with a ticket because someone could not go at the last minute.

it's kind of weird that this show should sell out and the Doves show hasn't, oh well, whatever.

i have had both good and bad luck for showing up to shows that were sold out. i scored a ticket for Social Distortion just by asking people walking to the club if they had an extra. on the other hand, after driving 8 hours to Chicago, i had NO LUCK at all trying to get a Nick Cave ticket outside the Metro. even tried bribing the door with a $50.

Giles I use Pollstar and am also on the list for all the clubs/shows I like in SF. Surely the 930 club has an e-mail list?
