Free Weezer/Red Hot Chili Peppers concert in Vegas (July 2)
I originally saw this posted over at Boing Boing and thought some of you would be interested. The full press release is here.
Starting Monday, April 18 at noon you can get tickets here: http://www.vegasrocks100.com/main.html
An outdoor concert...in Vegas...in July. Even though it's free and I like both bands, it doesn't sound too enjoyable to me.

Even if I'd love to see both bands preform live, the mix of that over a thousand people will be there in addition to the fact that Vegas is hotter than hell in the summer makes me want to stay the hell away from that concert on the 2nd.
[I'd rather see Dane Cook and Dave Attell at the House of Blues that night.]

I'll be there too. My cousin called me yesterday and said he got me and himself a ticket, but I had no idea it was going to be outside.
I've never seen either band live, so I'll try to last as long as possible.

Vegas Moves Chili Peppers to Grass Field
By The Associated Press
It might have been too hot to handle a crowd of 50,000 concertgoers in an asphalt parking lot near the Las Vegas Strip in the middle of a southern Nevada summer.
Las Vegas Centennial planners said Tuesday a July 2 outdoor concert featuring the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Weezer will instead be held on a grassy soccer field near Sam Boyd Stadium.
"On reflection, this is a better place," Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman said.
Organizers also added a $100,000 fireworks show to the free concert, one of a series of events this year marking the city's 100th anniversary.
Authorities cited concerns about triple-digit temperatures affecting people in the crowd, while security planners cited difficulties getting people to and from the original site near the Las Vegas Convention Center - about a block off the Las Vegas Strip.
Event organizers said tickets will be honored at the new venue at the Silver Bowl Sports Complex, about 9 miles southeast of the Strip. No new tickets will be issued.
The concert generated controversy in April when scalpers snapped up free tickets minutes after they were available online and began offering them on the Internet at prices of up to $70 each.
