Picked this up today and listened to every song but the last one while driving around and running a few errands (yeah, it's that short). I'm really impressed. Quality music.
That's the reason why I like SOAD. (It certainly ain't their politics)

When I popped this into my computer I had to double check that the cd was only 36:11 long.
This cd scares me. Simply for the fact that I've never been overwhelmed by each of the other 3 SOAD discs right off the bat. I've had to listen to them multiple times in order for them to grow on me and to appreciate truly how good these guys are.
I don't feel that way about this disc at all. It's really, really good after the first listen. I hope it stays that way.

For some reason I ended up getting a "clean" version in a case that was clearly marked explicit. Hopefully Circuit City will let me exchange it tomorrow. I really wish I wouldn't have deleted the mp3s of it that I downloaded a few weeks ago.

About a week ago, having never listened to them before (except hearing Chop Suey and Boom a couple times), I downloaded Mezmerise, burned it to a CD, and listened to it on my way to work with no intention of purchasing it (sorry). That first listen didn't go so well. I enjoyed the Intro, but I felt it went downhill from there. The next day, I gave it another chance, and I'd say I loved 10 of the 11 songs. I listened to all three previous albums, and purchased them. Today, I drove to the nearest Best Buy to get Mezmerize for 9.99 CAD. I don't think I've ever been so impressed with a band as to buy all of their albums in the course of one week. So, yay for SOAD. They've got at least one new fan.

I don't get these guys. I've heard their singles Chop Suey and Ariels on the radio before and didn't think much of them. Then I saw them on SNL a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't stop laughing. I didn't see or hear anything that I liked. What's the appeal? Can I attribute it to the fact that I am over 30?

Well I'm over 30 and I seem to like System of a Down's new CD so I guess you'll have to attribute your dislike of it to something else. Have you changed your diet recently?

I'm listening to this CD constantly and love it! Can't wait for Hypnotize to be released. But now that it's finally out, my next eagerly anticipated album is the new Static-X CD "Start a War" next month now.

No, no diet changes...I still have my cup of syrup like I do every morning.
Seriously, I didn't mean to come off as insulting. I'm just fasciniated at all of the attention paid to this group. Not here but among my friends and bandmates as well.

i don't like em much either. rather, they are ok and would rather hear them on the radio then say, 3 doors down, linkin park and other crap. i thought their first and second albums were decent i really like about 3 or 4 songs on each a whole lot.
but now, i'm just tired of their style. i also saw them on SNL and thought it was retarded.
my brother is definitely getting this album so i'll check it out, perhaps there will be a few songs on there that i like.

Stoney,
Right now I'm loving the new Judas Priest. Besides that I like Black Label Society, Queensryche before Degarmo left, Alice in Chains, Dream Theater, any Van Halen, Zeppelin, Metallica up to the Black album, Joe Satriani, U2, Sabbath, Ozzy, Rush, Megadeth, Iron Maiden....I could go on and on I guess.

if anyone is interested nbc is replaying their snl episode. (on the original broadcast, the guitar player yelled out a "fuck yeah" at the end of "byob" without a bleep.)
oh and does anyone have any idea of a release date for "hypnotize"

Rypro: I assume that the replay you mentioned has already happened (I see no date for it mentioned)?
I just saw them in concert last night, they said new album is do out in November if I remember correctly.
SOAD was damn impressive in concert, but Mars Volta was even better in my opinion. I'd say an A for SOAD and an A+ for Volta.
