Bought "The Eithers Tragic" and the live version of "Soma", which was off Earphoria. I have The Aeroplane Flies High box set so a good chunk of the b-sides I got already.

I had no idea! Thanks for letting us know.

A lot of this stuff is not that rare, tons of tracks off of Earphoria and Pieces Iscariot for instance.

However, The Aeroplane Flies High, the Lull EP and several of the early singles have been deleted.

I've reorganized the songs into chronological order and placed them in their respective albums (except for Pisces Iscariot, but all songs from that album are denoted. It should be purchased instead of single songs or the singles themselves. It's a better value!) Also, all rare tracks are marked in red. However, if a CD is still in print easily obtained, I didn't mark it red, regardless of exclusivity of tracks.

Most of the "rare" b-sides are are rare because the label deleted the single. This is the case of most of the singles up to the Adore album. Those singles can however be purchased pretty easily used off of Amazon, so I don't think they're that rare. Also, the Aeroplane Flies High is only considered rare because Virgin took it out of print. It would probably very difficult, but not impossible to track down the great box set.

Of the remaining "rare" tracks, some are available for free download as part of the Machina II album. Just google "Machina II".

Then there is the tribute and charity album tracks, I consider these rare because if you only like Smashing Pumpkins, it's just easier to buy from iTunes. Also, a few of the charity albums went OOP.

Finally, there are the true rare tracks such as the tracks from the bonus 7" with Pieces Iscariot and the Still Becoming Apart Bonus CD. These are pretty varied and some aren't any good.

This whole rare thing on iTunes is kind of a bust for a diehard fan such as myself, but for the casual fan, it should be very helpful.

I wouldnt mind a boxset of all these songs (it would be nice to own them on CD) .

And not to take anything away from iTunes...but found alot of those songs online (not on P2P Networks). But really all i got was pre-Gish demo stuff & a couple of live shows.

As for rarities not on iTunes: other than live performances of covers and unused songs in demos (which you can get at the site durden007 posted), I believe iTunes to have them all. But I could be wrong.

In regards to a Tristessa 7", it seems that Tristessa and La Dolla Vita (available on Pieces Iscariot) are the only tracks on it. Honeyspider was on the 12" in addition to the two other tracks.

That is one of the two bonus tracks (the other being Tonite Reprise) from the 3 LP set.

What i meant was all the other songs on that huge ass list. But if i take out TAFH songs and the stuff off of "Machina 2", "Judas 'O" and "Earphoria" there isnt a whole lot left.

Uh, which version of "pisces iscariot" do you have that includes Purr Snickety?

From what I can tell from www.spfc.org, the SubPop Tristessa 7"/12" included a different recording of "Tristessa" than the one later recorded for Gish several months later. OK, technically not a B-side, but an alternate recording. Still, considering they included the A-sides of many of the singles, you would think they would have included this one.

Nice list, probably should be noted that Eye is also available on the Lost Highway soundtrack.

I saw this last week, didn't really understand who this was marketed at. Any real pumpkins fan would have all of this, and I can't see a casual fan being interested.

I can find maybe 3 songs I didn't have already, either through albums or simply trading..

Still cool to see the pumpkins get some props.

Yeah, this is a pretty solid site, and has weekly new video updates.. Plus it's all free downloads without registering etc..

Time to time they have some pretty good stuff.

I used to have the Aeroplane box but I sold it off because I needed cash to pay bills, and before I moved I had an oppurtunity to buy another box but forgot to stop by the store to get it. I really wish a definative B-sides collection would be released I'd buy it in a second I really miss this band.
