Hot Hot Heat - "Elevator"

So did anyone else pick up Elevator by Hot Hot Heat? It's a decent enough CD and there are a few gems ("Goodnight Goodnight" is just so damn catchy), but I think their previous one Make Up the Breakdown is the better album.

I was kind of surprised to see no mention of their new album here (other than the new release thread), given the amount of press it's gotten. Just curious as to what everyone else thinks about the album.

Almost started a thread but, like you, I'm a bit underwhelmed. Make Up The Breakdown was far superior.

I'm liking...

Goodnight, Goodnight
You Owe Me an IOU
Jingle Jangle
Middle of Nowhere
Island of an Honest Man

This CD has been in my car since Wednesday. I either love it or hate it, depending on my mood. Which sounds weird. The thing that's hard to swallow about it is how different it is from Make Up The Breakdown. Overall, that one is better (possibly just cuz it got to me first, although this isn't always the case as I tend to like a band's second CD more than their first). But I think the more I listen to it, the more this one will grow on me. I pretty much like every song and I actually appreciate the departure from their previous effort. Some bands need to have each album sound different, and I'm hoping it works for Hot Hot Heat.

At the moment, I'd say my favorite songs on the CD are:
Running Out Of Time
Goodnight Goodnight
Island Of The Honest Man
Shame On You
Elevator

But the more I listen to it, the more I really start liking the other songs, so next week, it could totally change.

I think the album is pretty incredible... probably their best.... I'm seeing them next week with Futureheads and Louis XIV, should be pretty awesome!

I have my brother-in-law picking it up since a store by him has it with the bonus second disc.

Did any of you get that one?

I just listened to the Hot Hot Heat and Louis XIV albums(Olsson's Books & Records listening station) and I really dig 'em, going to eventually buy both.

I got it from Best Buy - just one disc. What's on the bonus disc?

The bonus disc was a DVD but I don't know what's on it.

My brother-in-law's supposed to be getting it from Vintage Vinyl. Their website showed a picture of the bonus disc the other day but I don't see it today.
