Easytree Shut Down for Good

Just got this email...........

Hello gals and guys,

We're very sorry having to tell you that we had to shut down EZT
forever just a couple of minutes ago.

We got a call from our provider, they had received a few letters
from a couple of lawyers. They requested EZT to be shut down
immediately, otherwise we'd be sued.

As you may imagine, we do not have the funds to fight a battle we
most probably can't win anyway.

We would like to thank everyone here for their contributions to EZT,
one way or the other, for sharing the music, sharing an ideal, for
all your mails, rants, praises...

I'm sorry, I'm still too shocked to write on... maybe later I'll
find some more words or my collegues will do...

To say it with Joan Armatrading:

We had fun, fun, fun, fun
fun, fun, fun, fun
we had fun -- while it lasted...
--"Tall in the Saddle"--

You all take good care!

jupiter2101, EZT Chief Mod

Well, crap.

I discovered a bunch of cool artists by downloading live shows on Easytree.

Its a bittorrent download site for live recordings of just about any band. It falls into a "gray area" of legality, because none of those recordings are available elsewhere, no one is making any money, and in many cases, the recordings are "liberated" from profit-seeking bootleggers.

Oh, man. I come back from vacation (where I was incommunicado, as far as the internet's concerned) and find this. Although I've only been a member of the site for a month or two, I really liked it a lot. Snagged some great John Wesley Harding shows. Bummer.

Not at the moment. Everyone from Easytree flooded TTD and crashed it.

I miss STG.

Best place to get shows, what a shame
You can use TTD when it gets back up,whenever that is,or you can check out this place here The Pirate Bay
They cant be shut down due to them not being in the U.S.

They have a page with text formatted emails from people trying to shut them down.Quite entertaining. The best is from DreamWorks...

As you may or may not be aware, Sweden is not a state in the United States
of America. Sweden is a country in northern Europe.
Unless you figured it out by now, US law does not apply here.
For your information, no Swedish law is being violated.

Please be assured that any further contact with us, regardless of medium,
will result in
a) a suit being filed for harassment
b) a formal complaint lodged with the bar of your legal counsel, for
sending frivolous legal threats.

It is the opinion of us and our lawyers that you are fucking morons, and
that you should please go sodomize yourself with retractable batons.

Please also note that your e-mail and letter will be published in full on
http://www.thepiratebay.org.

Go fuck yourself.

Polite as usual,
anakata

That's a bummer, I got quite a few shows from there including some really good Ben Harper shows. A lot of the bands that had shows on Easytree also have shows on http://www.archive.org/audio/etree.php

I love thepiratebay.net. Those letters are great. What I'd really want is the reaction of the legal counsel after reading it.

Also, check out Dimeadozen.org

As far as I can tell, it's Easytree at a new location. My old login and password still work.

So happy!
