Live in "Transmit your Love"

They actually sing about a kid skipping a Live concert to go to Jimmy Buffett with his dad.

Great song; awful line.

GWAR Theme:
Cause we are GWAR
And we'll go far
We've got guitars
We'll eat your car
GWAR GWAR GWAR GWAR

And in quite a few others the band or the members are mentioned by name; for instance in "Morality Squad" Edna Granbo talks directly to them
"GWAR, you're the worst, I'll put an end to you, You're even grosser than 2 Live Crew."

Christian Death:
"Though I walk through the valley of Christian Death I will fear no evil"
though that may be more of an 'allusion' to themselves rather than straight out mentioned themselves, and I forget the song name, it's on one of the first tracks of Pornographic Messiah, I believe.

Alice Cooper: Be My Lover
"I told her I came from Detroit City, I played guitar in a long haired rock and roll band.
She asked me why the singer's name was Alice, I said listen baby, you really wouldn't understand."

Mojo Nixon did multiple times, can't recall song names at present though. Talking about MojoWorld, and Mojo for President, and of course in his cover of Be My Lover as well.

Indeed! I would also add Pop Will Eat Istelf's inclusion of 'PWEI' in many songs into the same category.

Dismemberment Plan in the song "Do The Standing Still."
They sing about a bunch of kids at a stripmall watching "The Plan" live.

Bo Diddley

Did I miss the point of this thread? Or miss someone's post as I skimmed too quickly?

No one has said, "Bo Diddley" by Bo Diddley? Come on!!

There was also an 80's group called "Living in a Box" that had a single called "Living in a Box" and an album called "Living in a Box."

doesn't Morrissey refer to Steven Patrick (himself) at one point in a song?
