Who has more-- Elvis or The Beatles?

who has the most albums released in their lifetime (as a group)?

Most #1 hits? Most albums total (including after death/breakup)?

I would think the Beatles beat Elvis every time but Im not sure. Any music geeks know?

I have some answers regarding "singles" from my Top 40 book. (my copy goes thru 1999)

Most Charted Top 40 Singles:
#1 - Elvis with 114
#2 - Elton John with 59
#3 - Beatles with 52 (if you include solo stuff by each of The Beatles their total number increases to 129...13 for John, 37 for Paul, 15 for George, and 12 for Ringo)

Most Top 10 Singles:
#1 - Elvis with 38
#2 - Beatles with 34

Most #1 Singles:
#1 - Beatles with 20
#2 - Elvis with 18

Most weeks held #1 position:
#1 - Elvis with 80 weeks
#2 - Mariah Carey with 60 weeks
#3 - Beatles with 59 weeks

Top Artist by points (awarded by highest charted positions of all their Top 40 singles:
#1 - Elvis with 8,067 points
#2 - Beatles with 4703 points (solo stuff Paul at #8 with 2983 points and the other Beatles did not make the Top 100 artists)

Again this is from the Billboard Top 40 and is in regards to sales/chart history of singles only.

The Beatles had more heads, but Elvis weighed more. Elvis had more suits, but the Beatles had more good movies (2). Elvis had more scary Mephis Mafia types, but the Beatles had more "Yokos."

Cool. It would be interesting to see album sales though, with all the Anthologies, Red & Blue and #1s cd, The Beatles might have an edge.

Unless you count the loonies that think Elvis is still alive, I doubt his cd's fly off the shelf faster than the beatles nowadays. I could be wrong though. Just a personal thought.
