Some good suggestions here. I always thought Machinehead by Bush was a good driving song.

Not a big fan of them, and maybe I've played GTA:Vice City too much but Judas Priest's "You've got another thing comin'" fits the bill.

Most Judas Priest songs are good for fast driving but I personally think "Freewheel Burning" is the best of them all.

Fast and furious
We ride the universe
To carve a road for us
That slices every curve in sight
We accelerate,
No time to hesitate
This load will detonate
Whoever would
Contend its right
Born to lead
At breakneck speed
With high octane
We're spitting flames

Freewheel burning

You can't go wrong with that !!

You've got people listing Van Halen, Zep, Judas Priest, Rob Zombie, Guns N Roses, Offspring, Iron Maiden, Metallica, NIN... & Dave Matthews?

To me, reading this:
'm specifically looking for good, fast paced songs that make you want to floor it
Doesn't quite equate to Dave Matthews or Sugar Ray. But maybe that is just me. No offense, just not my style.

Just wondering, have you heard the song that was recommended? "Drive In Drive Out" is one of the most energetic Dave Matthews Band songs they play, with the drums being the focal point of the song. While you may not agree with the recommendation, I suggest you listen to the song before dismissing it. I happen to listen to "Drive In Drive Out" while driving and find it a fun song to drive to.

Shawn

Edit: Re-reading my post I can see it might be viewed as condescending. I did not mean it this way, simply that "Drive In Drive Out" is a song I happen to like driving to and that by generalizing it as a Dave Matthews song, you might be missing out (if for some reason you don't like Dave Matthews). While I agree that Dave Matthews Band would not fit the same genre as Led Zepplin or Van Halen, that doesn't mean that they don't have fast or energetic songs.

I haven't heard the Dave Mathews Band song, but that point has been made. The Sugar Ray recommendation was mine so allow me to make my point. If you followed the band before they became commercialized, and heard the Lemonade & Brownies CD (which Mean Machine is off of) maybe you would agree. Where's my "Beware of the troll" sign when I need it??

Easy now. Watch where you are thowing troll remarks. i am aware of Sugar Ray's past. It was a light-hearted generalization looking at bands mentioned and seeing SR and DMB tossed in, they just look out of place. They could have a daring hidden speed metal track on their albums, with the greatest drumming ever, it doesn't matter. When someone mentions either I don't think "pedal to the metal." Simple as that.

You say you know of their past. That's really all I know of them since I stopped listening to them after L&B when they decided to turn into a totally diff band. Hidden speed metal track? On L&B? The entire disc is full tilt, out of 14 songs, there's two, maybe three soft songs on it. But you would know that unless... the troll shoe fits.

I'm going to assume the "greatest drumming ever" comment was directed at me since I was the one who mentioned the drumming on "Drive In Drive Out". My comment was made just to give you an idea about the song since it's obvious that you have never heard it (or many of their other songs) by your generalization of Dave Matthews Band. I'm not going to try to convince you of the musical talent of the band, however, I do hope that before responding you would have at least attempted to listen to the song. While I agree that "Crash Into Me" and "The Space Between" aren't the greatest driving songs, (contrary to popular opinion) DMB is not a one-dimensional band. They have five or six studio albums, many with a majority of songs that are upbeat and faster-paced. I strongly suggest you listen to the songs recommended before putting down a band because you feel that they are stereotyped as being too slow.

I'm aware of that. FWIW, I enjoy Sugar Ray. As for DMB, I dated a girl that was heavily into DMB, so I have heard all of their stuff prior to 2002. So assuming something you know nothing about and throwing out personal attacks because of it, is quite childish.

I never said I didn't agree with a recommendation(that is silly in itself, there is no right or wrong answer), and I never put either band down no matter how much the both of you read in between the lines in my posts.

So lets try this again... real slow...my original point...
Just LOOKING, I repeat LOOKING at the list of metal bands mentioned and seeing SR and DMB among that list is comical to me. That is all, it is no slam against either band. Not in the least. Is it that hard to understand?

Anyway, back to the topic at hand:
"So What," - the Metallica cover
"Wait and Bleed" - Slipknot

good call. I used to hate Slipknot, but my drum teacher kept telling me about how good Joey Jordison is. I eventually broke down and bought the first album. I'm not a big fan of that type of metal, but the drumming is terrific and inspiring. Wait and Bleed is a great song, too.

Deep Purple - Highway Star
Cradle of Filth - Funeral in Carpathia (be quick or be dead version) ----by the way,the drumming on this song will knock your socks off
Dimmu Borgir - Cataclysmic Children, Reptile
In Flames - Pinball Map
Children of Bodom - Kissing the Shadows
Rush - Subdivisions
Motley Crue - Louder Than Hell, Home Sweet Ho,e
Borknagar - Oceans Rise
Metallica - Blitzkreig
Iron Maiden - Purgatory

there, that should be enough metal for a while

Well I find it comical that you call other people's recommendations comical and then be upset for being called out as a troll. That is pretty much what a troll does. Who said we were only supposed to list metal bands anyway? And do we have to check with your list of "worthy as metal" bands before being called comical? Sorry, I didn't get that memo.

Here's a couple of other tunes I'd recommend:
Nirvana - Territorial Pissings
Smashing Pumpkins - Geek USA
