I've always liked the theme to Hill Street Blues.

Another vote for Chariots of Fire as well.

Check out Craig Chaquico (formerly of Jefferson Starship). He's done a lot of great instrumental acoustic guitar on his solo albums. I'd suggest Panorama:Best of Chaquico.

I'd be willing to put money on the fact that Henry Mancini would probably be #1 if you were to compile all the hits.

Also, not sure if Esquivel ever had any "hits" per se, but he certainly made a lot of very interesting music.

I also recall one being a bit hit in the 50s or 60s, I believe it was titled after a drink or a food, can't remember it for the life of me right now.

Onda- Los Lonely Boys..this one was up for a Grammy in 04 and should have won. It's like a musical journey. It's on their self-titled studio album as well as their Live at the Fillmore album which is a 20 minute long version mostly because of an extended intro by guitar slinger Henry Garza. Garza is top notch and kind of a cross between Stevie Ray Vaughan and Carlos Santana.

Holdin' Out - by Indigenous on their Live at Pachyderm Studios album...AWESOME album with a WICKED cover of Hendrix' Red House.

Little Wing -SRV I agree with. Besides Sky is Crying there's also a live version on the remastered version of the Soul to Soul album.

Scuttlebuttin' -SRV

Herb Alpert was mentioned at the start of the thread and he was the artists I was thinking of... This is selling in Amazon's Top 100 right now. Apparently there was just a re-release.

Tequila by The Champs was the first one that popped into my head. Stevie Ray Vaughan has some great instrumentals.
