After Enter Sandman, there is a huge disaster. Did that really happen, or was it staged? I'm surprised they kept playing, if it was real, because there was a dude that caught on fire! Any info (links?)

I believe it was staged. I think they did that at like every show of that tour, but I could be wrong. It looked staged to me I guess.

It was staged. I think there is a behind the scenes documentary on the dvd discussing it. It has been a while since I have watched it.

Yeah, it was staged. Hence the title, Cunning Stunts.

I'm pretty sure they talk about it a little bit in the bonus features.

Maybe the guy on fire running around the stage was James Hetfield.

(I know... I know...)

It was real. They had a ton of mishaps that tour. I think they lost something like 75 roadies all from the same accident. Every single show they lost someone! You'd think they would've learned something!

The title of the set was lifted from a Cows album that came out a year or two before.

The real accident that burned Hetfield is documented on the "Year and a Half In the Life of Metallica" DVD. It happened around 92' or so when they were touring with GNR. The fans ended up rioting after that show because Axel Rose was too much of a bitch to go perform and calm the crowd down. If you don't have that DVD, get it. I have every Metallica DVD and it's the one I replay the most.

Dollars to donuts says that Axl Rose figured that since Metallica wasn't going to play (due to James Hetfield being severely burned and almost dying on stage) he wasn't going to, either.

Yeah, Axel's really selfless.

Watch the documentary on the disc. It explains all in a "making of"

I remember going to this tour. My brother freaked out when it happened. I had read about the "stunt" on the internet previous to my going, so I got quite the laugh at my brother's expense. I can still remember him yelling "Oh my god!" a bunch of times.

Yeah, I think every guy who thought about the title for more than 2 seconds came up with that.
