Lucky. They just added another Boston show I wanted to go to on Thursday, but got scheduled to work and they are frowning down upon people calling out in December. Still tempted to go, depending on how the weather is.

My wife and I saw them in Montreal after Thanksgiving. They've been my favorite band for a decade and so I was completely psyched and there has been so much hype that I was worried I'd be disappointed but I wasn't at all. It was absolutely amazing! I couldn't have asked for more....

Just got home from the show- totally wired - so i'm uploading some of the pics I took.
More info: I arrived at 1pm and was the absolute first person in NYC in to a Pixies gig since back in the day. Pretty cool if you ask me. I was front row center with my new friends.
The show was one of the most brutal, fun, loud, energizing, inspirational live shows this old feller has ever seen.
On to the good stuff (hope it works): Click for mo' bigger versions:
A glowing picture of Charles:

Joey playing devilishly:

Kim, of course:

A neato blur shot of Kim:

Kim grabs a smoke:

A nifty blur shot of Joey:

Joey has a Nigel Tufnel moment:

Joey playing the guitar cable:

I work right around the corner. I could theoretically walk straight there from work at 6 any night and snag a ticket on the street (the way they sold tix undercut the scalpers and they're going for face value or less).
Something to ponder for the next few days....

saw the pixies last night.
damn...I honestly never checked too much into live sets of the pixies and have just been around their studio sound, but they turn up the notch about 1000 times as far as sound goes live. I don't think Frank Black could distort his guitar or and voice at times anymore than he did, sometimes it was like listening to a hardcore punk band...I mean it sounded awesome of course, it was probably the loudest concert I ever been to, and I have been to a hell of a lot. Great show, go to a NY gig if you got the chance. Watching Kim Deal chain smoke makes me want to have a cigarette. On another note..The Datsuns suck.

Well what can I say? They were fantastic and so energetic. Me and my girl were three people away from the front and that was cool. They all seemed to enjoy playing, and they really have great chemistry. Kim seemed to have the most fun, always had a smile on her face nearly laughing, almost like she couldn't quite believe the fandom. I don't know how many songs they performed but, it was alot, they just kept on playing. The encore was "La La Love You" and "Vamos", which I think was the best way to end it.
The Datsuns were okay, they just went on a little long. I imagine I'd like their album more, I couldn't hear the vocals all that well and they seemed too loud.
On a side note, I don't think I'll buy tickets for GA floor anymore. I'm just not cut out for it. I don't mind standing, and being crowded by people, but I like some space. There are just too many people jumping around into me, holding on to me, worming there way up front, and idiots shouting song names in my ear.
I also wish people would stop singing along with songs, especially at a show like this. Frank tends to change the way he sings some lines, so the crowd was so way off. I don't mind them doing the woo-oos on "Where is My Mind?", but please let Frank sing "Mr Grieves" and Kim sing "Gigantic".
Anyway, none of negatives ruined the show. Ultimately the Pixies rocked the house, and I was happy.
