Many thanks for clarifying that

Suprised the 'Little Sister' video hasn't been included with all the airplay it seems to be getting on VH2/MTV2 etc..

woofman 03-25-05 07:14 AM

I've only had time to watch the studio footage so far, theres a funny celeb cameo I wasn't expecting. I wanted to watch the rest of it this morning but was running late for work, I saw the video for "Someone's in the wolf" and I could have sworn the menu also listed "little sister" as well as the therapy session but I'll have to watch it to be sure.

Over all my impression of this CD is good, although as someone else mentioned not quite as rawkin' as SFTD, but I still can't wait to see them live!

^^Unless you got a different version than I did, the menu definitely doesn't have 'Little Sister'.

I love the new album. True, not as rockin. But it does have some great tracks. Overall I'd give it ***1/2 out of ****.

They are on Conan O'Brien tonight.

You're right, I forgot about the therapy session, which was pretty funny.

Now I hope they eventually come out with a full length live DVD.

Love it. I would go as far to say I like it better than their first but I will need to listen to it a tad bit more before making my decsion.

Favorite tracks (so far):

Tangled up in plaid
In my Head (this should have been the first single released)
Someone's in the wolf
The blood is love (fucking awesome song)
Broken Box
You got a killer scene there, man...(just a cool ass song)

I never was sure why so many people thought Songs for the deaf was their best, I put it at their lowest but even still, I'm not saying SFTD is a bad album at all and I do like it but LTP and their first are where it's at for me......and R is damn good too :)

I thought SFTD was their best. I got this one a couple months ago on a leak and, I dunno... it never seems to make it all the way to the end. I don't know if I've ever heard the last couple songs. I think i should sit down and give it a real listen because the beginning has some real good tracks.

I definitely agree on the 'not as rockin' comment. That's what girlfriends do to a band ;)

I finally watched the DVD from the special edition pack last night. I thought the studio footage was interesting, seeing various elements of songs coming together. There was an interesting note made in the otherwise uninteresting faux interview by Sara Silverman: Josh noted that the CD should be listened to after midnight - in line with the whole lullabies theme. Seems like a decent idea. This disc has been growing on me the past week.

First listen through the album was a bit average, but it's grown on me a lot. Not their best stuff, but pretty solid CD.

After two weeks and many listens, I think this is their best album.

Same here and Borken Box is my new Favorite song.

Stoney 04-08-05 09:58 PM

Broken Box is probably my favorite song on the album, but I still think I rate Rated R and SFtD above Lullabies. I didn't like it much after the first listen, but it is a pretty good album. Much more in line with their first album.

I like the album, I just miss the mix of Oliveri's screaming tracks of the last cds. Broken Box and You Got A Killer Scene... are my favorites off the record.

Boy, I'm just having a hard time getting into this record. I jumped on the bandwagon for "Songs for the Deaf" and love that record a lot! But this, I'm just not into right off the bat like I was for "Deaf." BTW, I don't know a lot about Queens - who left the band? I ask because I'm not sure if it's even the same lead singer - the vocals sound different than on "Deaf" to me.

Stoney 04-10-05 05:18 PM

The band has had a lot of different members at different times, but the vocal core has generally been Josh Homme (been there since the beginning), Nick Oliveri (ditto), and Mark Lanegan (formerly of Screaming Trees). Nick left between SFtD and Lullabies, and there were rumors that Mark left as well, but Mark's voice can be heard in various songs and he sings the entire opening Lullaby. Rated R and SFtD both split up the lead vocals pretty evenly, but since Oliveri is gone and Mark's stuff was limited, Homme ends up being the lead singer on all of the Lullabies songs.

Just picked this up a few days ago and really like it. I think my favorite track is "Someone's in the Wolf", a great 7 minutes of some nice guitar riffs.

story 04-10-05 09:35 PM

So who was the lead singer on SFtD and is he gone?
