Donnie Iris "Ah Leah"
The Kings "This Beat Goes On/Switchin' To Glide"
Plastic Bertrand "Ca Plane Pour Moi"

Where to stop?

This is my favorite kind of music. I love how new wave songs can encompass different styles and be fun to listen to. What an era.

Oingo Boingo's "Only A Lad", both the song and the album, got me into the whole New Wave/Modern Music scene. 25 years later Elfman and the boys are still my all time favorite band.

The B-52's "Rock Lobster" is the ultimate New Wave 80's party song even though I believe it was actually released in 1978! I must've bheard that one at every party I went to in the 80's.

For a great streaming 80's fix, try Daygloradio.com . I stumbled across this recently in my iTunes list. It's great and has plenty of the more obscure New Wave that others don't play.

If you have XM satellite radio turn the dial to either 44 or 46 (preset 4 for me) to a channel called Fred. All 80s New Wave/Alternative. And not only The Cure - Just Like Heaven type of songs, they play some deep cuts on that station.

I listen to a lot of Electronic Dance Music now (after growing up wih New Wave) and the funny thing is that a lot of these 80s Alternative songs are being remade into modern EDM songs. And I dont mean cheesy wedding style dance music either.

Woops! I think I misunderstood your question. I got most of these songs back when napster and kazaa were in their infancy stages.....

You could find almost ANY song you wanted back then. I even found the Uncle Pecos song from Tom and Jerry "CRAMBO!!!!" and "IS YOU IS OR IS YOU AIN'T MY BABAYYY!!!!"

Someone had the entire Tuff Turf, Rad, Last American Virgin, Some Kind Of Wonderful and Excalibur soundtracks with a 192 KB rating on them. Of course I had to get them

I can hardly find any of this stuff anymore.

You misunderstood my question twice!

Since there were numbers I thought you got it from a magazine or online list.

So I finally started looking through my cds. Some of these might be from 79 or 91 etc. or not even New Wave, but I think of them all in the same genre since I was really into New Wave-not the synth stuff so much though. Some may have even been hits-I didn't listen to the radio much so I don't even know. If I knew they were big hits I didn't list them.

Adult Net-Waking Up In the Sun, Take Me
Altered Images-Happy Birthday
Adam Ant-Kings of the Wild Frontier, tempted to list a few others
B52's-52 Girls, Private Idaho
Big Audio Dynamite-The Bottom Line, Other 99, C'mon Every Beatbox
Blake Babies-Out There, I'll Take Anything
Blondie-One Way or Another, Hanging On the Telephone, Dreaming
Blue Aeroplanes-Fun
Bluebells-Young At Heart
Blur-She's So High
Book of Love-I Touch Roses
Cars-Candy-O
Chills-Heavenly Pop Hit
Cocteau Twins-Iceblink Luck
Darling Buds-everything from the cds Pop Said.. and Crawdaddy
Danielle Dax-ID Parade
Dead Milkmen-Punk Rock Girl
DEVO-everything from Freedom of Choice, Through Being Cool
Divinyls-Hey Little Boy
Echo and the Bunnymen-Lips Like Sugar
Elvis Brothers-everything from the cds Movin' Up and Adventure Time (kinda rockabilly/power pop though)
Falling Joys-everything from Wish List
Frazier Chorus-Cloud 8

I got to the letter F and didn't have anymore time to look through my cds. Hopefully (or if anyone cares) I'll be able to continue looking. I'm sure there are a bunch of things on vinyl I'm forgetting.

It was a long, long time before I learned that Peter Gabriel did Games Without Frontiers, but for years I considered it a NewWave song. Guess I can't, anymore, but it did have that bouncy, newWave sound and had it mixed with authentic newWave songs from the 80's. (Should I remove it?)

I would definitely consider Games Without Frontiers a New Wave song. Why don't you think so?

BTW, check out the 5.1 remix of that song on the new Gabriel DVD Play. Fantastic. (All of the songs are remixed on the 5.1 track of that DVD)

Because I thought Peter Gabriel was considered PROGRESSIVE in that period of his career - until the album So came out, then he was mainstream popular. Genesis, during that period before Phil Collins took over lead vocals, was also Progressive, no?

The whole album, Spring Session M, should be considered a New Wave landmark. Not a bad track on the entire thing . . . and a very talented band.

Oh heck no. I'd place his 3rd and 4th albums, aka Melt and Security, squarely in the middle of New Wave.

During the late 70s and early 80s, progressive rock stations were playing stuff like Styx, Journey, and Foreigner. You would never have heard Games Without Frontiers on one of those stations. The song was heard frequently on New Wave and college stations though.
