Soft Rock 106.5 WBMW here in Southeast CT just change the format today to Christmas music and nothing but Christmas music until the 26th of Dec.

Seems to becoming a yearly thing but earlier each year.

some station here in DC does the same thing, fifteen minutes is enough for me... after that I want to jump off a cliff.

I really wish these people would wait until after Thanksgiving.

Ralphs had their Christmas stuff up for sale before even Halloween!

Sea World had a Christmas tree up all summer, yet don't have it up now! Don't get it... (they do that every year, too!)

Any interesting new punk rock/rock Christmas CDs out this year?

I loved XM's Special X when they played their more "non traditional" christmas music. Now that Special X is gone, I wonder where all the non-trad Christmas music will go.

All of these stations are owned by Clear Channel... I think CC does this simultaneously with many (if not all) of its "lite" stations

With 24-hours a day worth of Christmas music, they're bound to play some Vandals. .... Aren't they?

heh.. In Detroit, there are 2 stations playing nothing but christmas music that started on Nov 1st.

Usually, we only have 1 and it usually started around now. The other station, trying to one up them as well as get them to stop, started on nov 1st, so the other station did as well.

It really sucks, but at least they are not stations I listen to.

I think it's coming back. XM is going to have four dedicated stations: traditional, country, alternative/non-traditional, and rock/pop.

Edit: Here's the list from XM.com:

Tune in for your favorite holiday classics starting on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25th!

* Sunny - XM Channel 24 will play all your traditional favorites such as Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole.
* Holly - XM Channel 23 will feature contemporary holiday music with favorites from Bruce Springsteen and Celine Dion.
* Nashville - XM Channel 11 will present holiday tunes from country artists of today and yesterday.
* Special X-Mas - XM Channel 83 will serve up a mix of holiday novelty songs, parodies and rock covers of holiday classics.

There is a classical station here that plays Christmas stuff Dec 1-25.

And the 'lite rock' station plays non stop Xmas Dec 23-25.

I wish I could hear some classical Xmas music. It's the only kind I like.

One station here has been on the xmas bandwagon since approx Nov 7th. Their morning DJ/PD has been on sister stations or local TV spewing data research and other numbers validating the early play of holiday music.
