Plot Summary for
X: The Unheard Music (1986)
This film is a documentary about the personalities in, and the music of, the early 1980's Los Angeles punk band X. There are studio and live performances by the band and interviews with band members; all nicely interspersed with footage of area DJs, record stores, old TV shows and commercials.

As someone who is looking to buy some stuff by X but is a newcomer to their music, what do you guys recommend? I had never even heard of them until I checked out a DVD set on the history of rock n' roll from the library and liked what I heard of them on there. Would love to check out more of their stuff, but don't have any idea where to begin.

I'm surprised, never expected it, but that's good news.

That's easy, I like most of their CDs (at least the ones with Billy Zoom), but their first two (Los Angeles and Wild Gift) are clearly their best, so that's where I'd start.

I'd buy their anthology, Beyond and Back. Double CD set with lots of great material.

This was my fave album for many years (even had the band sign that recording), but after all this time I'm gonna have to go with "Wild Gift". There are some stunningly cool songs on that baby. I think the idea of the double CD collection is good for a newbie. Although you can find their first two recordings on one CD.
