Prince song question?
Anyone see one of the VH1 concerts with prince a while back when his "musicology" thiing was going on. At one point he was alone with his guitar playing and he sang a song, I think it was called "the sweetest thing". i had never heard it from prince before but apparently, judging by the crowd (ladies) singing along on the show, i am alone in that. anyway anyone know for sure what song that was and if there is a prince albul or other album that has it?
thank you for any guidance

the name of the song was Sweet Thing originally by Rufus & Chaka Khan.
pretty ironic that Prince does a cover since he doesn't think much of people covering other people's songs..

didn't say it was. just pointing out another example of Prince's hypocracy.

There's probably argument as to whether the weight of your own original material will allow you to cover others' work and have it considered to be a "tribute" to them...or if you just have your own lack of original ideas. Prince has shown over the years that he doesn't have a lack of original ideas, but at the same time, I think telling artists not to cover his work and to write their own tunes, when he does covers himself, may be a little hypocritical.

BTW...to answer the original question:
There's not a version of that song on any of Prince's released albums. If he's actually recorded it in the studio, it may be lurking around out there on a bootleg.
