I actually agree that Pink Floyd sucks. I mean if there was a definition for shitty stoner music Pink Floyd would be it. Maybe if I was 50 years old and stuck in the past I'd love them. Same thing for Led Zepplin. They both suck ass as much as Good Charlotte and all that pop punk crap.

This thread is pointless because everyone is going to have a different opinion on who the worst band is. The argument is just silly.

I really don't like GC. Not because they are pop-punk, thats fine. Every genre of music has that. The watered down version of the good stuff. I don't like them because they act like they are all hardcore and shit, then as soon as they start singing its top 40 sounding drivel. I won't front, I like a lot of top 40 pop drivel type stuff, it's catchy - but these boys need to stop acting like they're changing the world. GC != Anarchy or whatever punk was all about (I really am ignorant to that whole movement, but I know they aren't it).

That being said, I have more respect for an N'Sync of BSB boy band(what GC is - with just a worse make-up) who didn't try to act like they were the deepest acts out there. They were pop for pops sake and there isn't a damn thing wrong with that IMHO.

Are they the worst band ever though? Hardly. I may not like them, but they sound good enough.

Normally I see a little bit of what makes a band endearing to others, even if I don't like the music myself. Good Charlotte's music is terrible and their look is derivative. The only thing about GC that I can see that could be "endearing" is that they are young men. Not paricularly good-looking young men - just young men. Which means that they should only be popular with young girls and gay men. However, gay men's taste in music is generally much better than anything GC cranks out.

I watched a video of their the other day, just to check to see if they had grown past the idiotic sound they made on radio last year. They hadn't.

They really are the equivalent of an embarrassing 80's one-hit-wonder band, but unlike said band, don't have the decency to shut up and go away after the fifteen minutes are up.

I really liked Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous and Anthem from Young & The Hopeless - but didn't like the rest of the album at all. And I don't like anything new I've heard on the radio.

Simple Plan sound just like Green Day. In fact, I thought that song on the radio was Green Day until I heard otherwise.

There was a post above that mentioned Eve 6 as sucking, but I really enjoyed their Inside Out and (loved) Promise songs.

I guess you never heard Audioslave.

They're pretty bad, but my new band-to-hate is Shinedown and I've only got so much hate to go around.

Nothing was worse than Nirvana. So my answer is yes.

GC actually manages to be worse than U2 and almost as bad as Creed - that's quite an accomplishment.

Just the new single, or in general? I don't see how someone could confuse I'm Addicted, Perfect, or I'm Just a Kid (those were all the singles off their first album, right?) with Green Day.

I'd say Creed might be shittier by an eyelash, but it's a close call

I saw them open for Pearl Jam recently and I thought they were decent. They only played about 35 minutes though.

I think their band name is cool, if that makes any difference. (lol)

like gc also (helps that they're from dc) i still think their first album was their best.

You like overplayed pop music -- and that's practically treason on DVDTalk's music forum.

I don't get the big deal. I'm not a fan of GC, though I think a few of their songs are pretty catchy. I've actually seen them live once and they seemed like nice guys.

I don't get most of the disdain for pop-rock/pop-punk/emo on this forum.

The funny thing is, much of this stuff isn't too different from stuff you'd hear from bands like The Ramones, The Descendents, and tons of other pop-punk bands from the 70s and 80's, yet many of those bands are well liked here.

For the record, I'm a fan of:
Jimmy Eat World
Blink 182
New Found Glory (though most their songs sound the same)
Yellowcard
Pink Floyd
And many of the other "shitty bands" listed here.

Maybe you haven't heard much Green Day?

Perhaps you didn't hear what that guy had to say...Pink Floyd basically has NO DISTORTION....and clearly as a result of this they also have no talent.

Of course, based on that line of thought, several guitarists qualify as both the best and worst guitarists of all time. Both Joe Satriani and Steve Vai qualify here. Opeth typically puts out the greatest albums in the world, and they manage to sneak an absolutely SHIT song on to each album. Unfortunately this last album they put out (Deliverance) is pure shit.

Oh yeah, and to keep with the "old stoner hippie shit", Black Sabbath also sucks! Yeah!

WARNING: Please realize that all the previously stated stuff is not MY opinion. I love all bands listed above, the vast majority of their material, with or without distortion...and that KnightLerxst is not a moran.

I dare to suggest that some people have an automatic response formula when it comes to threads like this. Want to hear it....here it is: (Insert YOUR favorite band here) is without a doubt the crappiest band on the planet.

This thread is pointless because it's all a matter of opinion and we all know how varied the opinions can be in this forum. For the record though Good Charlotte suck major ass, but they might not be the worst band right now, there are too many bad ones to list.

That is more or less what I have thought from the original appearance of this thread. But it seemed a little OTT to dive in at that stage and immediately shut it down.

However, I think that everyone has now had ample opportunity to make his/her contribution....
