Dolly Parton Live & Well DVD/CD

Caught this on DirecTV's freeview this weekend & was blown away. I didn't even realize it came out on DVD/CD on 9/14.

I've always admired Dolly, and have enjoyed her recent bluegrass work. But seeing a cohesive career-spanning 2 hr concert really points out what an incredible songwriter she is. The occasional oddball covers stand out like sore thumbs compared to her originals. Of couse, being Dolly, you get the cornpone jokes etc but the musicianship & performances more than make up for it.

I'm not a fan of country music by any means, but good music is good music no matter what form it takes. And this is good. Very good.

I look forward to seeing this, but not until after I see her live on the 20th.

Dolly is great! I heard this Bluegrass song she performed on a "best of" Bluegrass cd and I was blown away. How long do they show those freeviews?

DirecTV says it's every weekend in October, on channel 103.

I'm watching it now and WOW! She so damn talented it's not funny. Her version of Stairway to Heaven is really good. Too bad many around here dismissed it.
