Wow. That's a great price. I am impressed.

It this confirmed.

If so, is this a tuesday price or a black friday price?

Where'd you see that price? I looked at their on-line ad pages and didn't see it

No, not at all. The point of a "best of" or "greatest hits" is to collect all the tunes into one package.

Only fans of Nirvana are going to spend all that money to buy the box set. And fans of Nirvana already have all the songs that have been released before. Why just repackage the same songs they already have?

The point of the box set is give the fans access to rare and raw recordings that they may not have heard before.

I think the track listing is just about perfect. They did the right thing.

Exactly...which to me is the way ALL boxsets should be. Boxsets that are just the normal songs from all the albums thrown into a box are too numerous to count.

This is by the far the perfect boxset. I honestly cannot wait until this comes out...and I haven't gotten excited about anything released music-wise in recent years.

Can SOMEONE help me out here?

I have loved Nirvana for many years and really want this set, but I have a small question.

Are these songs, live, demos, studio tracks, what?
Endless, Nameless
D-7
Curmudgeon
Moist Vagina
Marigold

I have the singles that these songs are on as BSides and LOVE these songs, but its not clear what these songs will be on the box. I want this set, but if these tracks arent as they appear on the singles, what the point?

Also, I dont mind that I know your right is acoustic on this release. I have the MP3 of the GH version and damn is it annoying... to me.

Look a mere one page earlier in this thread and you'll find the answer I believe.

Well, is a radio session live? Was moist vagina originally a demo or a full on production used as a Bside, or a demo used as a Bside? The parenthesis arent clear at all.

It could be a mis-price but Circuit City and Best Buy will probably match it!

Saw the ad in today's paper: Target $27.98. Can't beat that!

sinister: isn't the DVD about 100 minutes? That's a good length! (though of course more would be better!)

Endless, Nameless....radio appearance - 1991
D-7.....radio appearance - 1990
Curmudgeon.....listed as b-side, sounds like a studio track (non-demo) - 1992
Moist Vagina....demo - 1993
Marigold....like Curmudgeon, listed as studio track b-side - 1993

not being a huge nirvana fan, i find Marigold to be my favorite track. a much better version than what is found on Grohl's Late! Pocketwatch tape.

as for the comments on the ideal purposes of a box set...i think it all depends on the artist and their catalog of work. the box set that comes to mind is the 10 disc Led Zeppelin set. being that each of the records had been remastered and even though they only added <gasp> four additional tracks, i think that box served it's purpose quite well, for new and old fans alike. that being said, to a true Nirvana fan (of which i probably am not) i suppose this is a dream come true, even if you've already searched these tracks out on various comps and bootlegs.

for the record, my favorite box set is Cash: Unearthed even if the 5th disc is recycled.

Shit! Sounds like Im going to have to keep my singles with the B-sides of these songs since theyre all studio.

Now I may not even get the set

You'd be happier if these tracks were the same ones that you already have on other CDs rather than new versions you've never heard before? Why?

... i'd kinda like the set to consist of the b-sides and rarities in their "official" forms, in addition to the never officially released demos, etc.

ah hell, i just wish they'd do something almost as exhaustive as into the black.

I'm pretty excited that they didn't just compile all of the b-sides that I spent time tracking down myself. That Cure box set made my wife's Cure singles collection a freakin' waste of time and money. The Nirvana set doesn't do that to my Nirvana collection. Yay!

The Target I went to (Ann Arbor, MI) had five copies. That's why I got there early.

Great looking set.
