Hope of the States - "Sts'ikel" (hand's down one of the most spectacular neo-classical pop songs ever written, its achingly beautiful, as if a giant hand threw into the heavens and catapulted you through to the end of the universe, simply stunning!)

Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees/Nice Dreams

Mojave 3 - "Some Kind of Angel"

Jim Gordon was the drummer for Derek and the Dominoes, and he wrote the extended piano coda for "Layla". He later killed his mother by hitting her over the head repeatedly with a baseball bat. AFAIK he is still institutionalized.

Gordon was one of the top studio drummers of the early 70s. In addition to playing on Layla and Assorted Love Songs his credits also include John Lennon's Imagine.

Where do you go to my lovely - Welfare Heroine

cover of a Peter Sarstedt polka-ish song ... of all things. Found on the Ruby Trax: NME Roaring Forties circa ~ early 90's 4cd set. Lead vocals by someone and background support by Saint Etienne's Sarah Cracknell.

Hauntingly beautiful.

Must have been a one-off since I can't find anything about Welfare Heroine.

If anyone knows more about this particular track i'd love to hear about it. Thanks.

I've been converting Cocteau Twins over to MP3. Just heard buckets of beauty.

"Pur" is a gorgeous song.

Two immediate ones:

"Songbird" , Fleetwood Mac (or half of Christine McVie's songs for that matter)
"I Was Brought To My Senses" , Sting

A few other thoughts:
"Every Hour" , Sue Foley
"This Night" , Billy Joel
"Mansfield" , Elton John (this song just takes me to another place emotionally)
