Alright just checked here..my memory must have been quite fuzzy, or the article was wrong. Probably the former.

"Daughter" No. 39
"Tremor Christ" No. 40
"Better Man" No. 40
"I Got ID" No. 28
"Who You Are" No. 37
"Given to Fly" No. 37
"Last Kiss" No. 10

You are joking right? Didn't even think there would be one minute of debate about Nirvana getting in. I personally don't like PJ, but don't have any issues with them being inducted one day. They did have (unfortunately) a pretty big influence on 90's rock.

They still make good albums, are highly influential and sell out shows to this day. I think their induction is a no-brainer.

Your second point I think is a point in favor of Pearl Jam.. Out of those "popular" acts very few of them are still around, much less still creating good new music

I just remember reading in Blender, in their monthy "greatest songs of all time.." article. They covered Jeremy last year. They mentioned how high it charted(around 75) and that it was their highest hit. Maybe they meant highest original song?

You gotta think that when alternative acts like PJ & STP were popular, they still weren't as popular as acts like Boyz II Men, TLC, Janet Jackson, Celine Dion, and many others. It was still a niche genre. It was big, but not that big. I don't think it really exploded until after Cobain took his life.

I would hope they never make it, since I've always thought they were a pretty crappy band, but I suppose worse bands have been inducted. Nirvana, OTOH, would be a slam dunk.

Pearl Jam is absolutely my favorite band. They deserve to be inducted and I'm not just saying that since they are my fave. In the beginning they were musicans now they are artists. Their music has evolved as they have grown. They will be inducted when their time comes.

No, not joking. I think Nirvana is one of the most over-rated bands ever. I know quite a few others would agree. They also only made a handfull of records. I'm sure there will be those who will lobby to get them in, but do they really deserve it? Its debatable.

Pearl Jam on the other hand has been making albums/touring for well over ten years. They still have a huge following.

Are you gonna start a petition to get the Velvet Underground kicked out of the hall of fame? How about Cream?

Longevity does not a great band make.

No, it's not. Nirvana will be inducted in 2013. End of debate.

Like Nirvana or not, they helped usher in a new genre of music to the mainstream and a style- grunge. It isn't often that happens. Listen to the radio today, everything is still hanging on to that thread that these bands started in the early 90's. It is easier to do that to make money than try and do something comepletely different and original.

I think people forget how groundbreaking Nirvana and Pearl Jam were when they came out. Prior to Nevermind, Michael Jackson's Thriller was #1. I don't know about you guys, but for my friends and I, we could relate to Nirvana a lot more than we could Michael Jackson.

Yes, grunge was short-lived, and somewhat vapid, and near they end became ridiculous. But it really helped out a lot of people who couldn't stand the "plastic-fantastic" world of the 80s.

We will see, the RNR Hall of Fame Inductions should get interesting as we approach the 25th Anniversary to "Hair Metal". I will say this though, if Poison get inducted Nirvana should be instantly let in.

There is no way Poison will ever get in the HoF. The only hair band that I can think of that will get in is Bon Jovi.

As for PJ...not a big fan, there are some okay albums, but I can understand if they do make it. Definitely a lot more bands/artists that are deserving who have not been inducted yet.

That is what I was thinking. Last I checked that and Eagles: GHv.1 were flopping back and forth for biggest album sales of all time. But I haven't heard much about it lately.

Actually PJ's Vitalogy was in the top 5 first week album sales of all time list. But alas that was before N*Sync, Britney Spears and Eminem brainwashed the public I'm betting it still may be skirting the top 10. lol. I read shit like this and it just hangs around in my head. Kinda useless stuff.

You will be eating those words in 2011 when poison yes poison will be inducted, i personally can't wait, and your point about bon jovi being the only "hair metal" band having a shot, wrong i can think of a few great bands along with bon jovi, like, motley crue, def leppard, ratt, whitesnake, twisted sister, guns N' roses and dokken all getting heavy consideration in a few years when they are eligible...

And my opinion on pearl jam getting in yea they should when there time comes, they were great in the 90's like the bands i mentioned above were great for the 80's...

Yeah, they should but not before R.e.m. or even Mudhoney who released the first real grunge single "Touch me I'm Sick." I think any band that has a great influence on rock music should be put in like Marshall Creenshaw or Love.

I don't like Pearl Jam at all so no I don't think they should be admitted into the hall of fame. My friend loaned me his copy of Ten & it sounds like they just ripped off Creed.

How dare you compare Pearl Jam to Creed? Creed has got to be one of the most no-talent ex-bands ever formed. Anyways how can PJ sound like Creed. Ten came out 13 years ago and Creed formed maybe 5-6 years ago.

I do not know if you are joking or not

GnR I do not consider a hair band and may make it. All the others? I can't see it. No way no how...if they did make it I would be speechless. Only way Coverdale gets in is through Deep Purple and that's if they even consider him a major part of DP.
