From a fellow Muse fan - try Our Lady Peace's early work and Finger Eleven's more recent work. Muse toured with Live for awhile - you might like their older stuff (Throwing Copper is a must). Matthew Good has a different sound but a similar sensibility. Try his solo album Avalanche or his old band's album Beautiful Midnight.

Planes Mistaken for Stars

Not sure if they'd be what you're looking for, but both are very good.

woah. not many people know about owsley. i got his first CD for 49 cents at a tower records when i was in callifornia..

if you can find this CD anywhere, pick it up. it's superb! for fans of fountains of wayne, beatles, weezer, etc.

i also have his second album.. that's not so great, but there is a very good cover of wings' 'band on the run' on it..

I'd recommend A Perfect Circle based on those bands you just named.

A couple of Texas bands that have recently gone nationwide sounds like they would be right up your alley...

Blue October
Vallejo

And a third for ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead.

I didn't know those other bands were skinheads.

But going on the ones mentioned I'd say perhaps Aerogramme.

A lot of people never give these guys a chance. They were so good back in the day! All of their albums are good, but if you just want the basics, pick up their 2 disc "best of" set. Great cover of Lionel Richie "Easy" too.

They were also good with their first singer. What ever happened to him (I forget)?
