How rare is this Beatles item?

My girlfriend's mother recently gave me a box set of 14 Beatles LPs, pressed by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab. The box reads "The Beatles - The Collection," and contains a booklet and a GeoDisc for aligning cartidges, I believe. The book is numbered 1256. Everything in the set is flawless. I'm just curious as to the scarcity and possible value of this item.

i've seen that sell for upwards of $800 on ebay. sometimes more, depending on the condition + original items still present. there's another box, which isn't by MoFi that sells for $250-350 dollars.

i wish my girlfriend's mother would give me a gem like that!

That's a great set. Those LPs also sound far better than the current Beatles CDs.

are they all in mono? and is the actual sound quality better, or are they better just because they aren't the horrible stereo masters.

Was the mother aware of the value of that set? If not, I'd do the cool thing and sell it on eBay, and give the mother half. You'll be in like Flynn.

Damn. I remember dreaming of buying this when I was a teen. I didn't think it was much over $100.

Sweet. I would look into buying this but since this one is being sold out of England, I don't know if it would play on my record player is my turntable is Region 1.

MFSL was quite meticulous in how they handled the remastering and probably one of the better examples why analog LP is superior over the CD.

Here a couple related links that might be of some use:

I wouldn't sell it. That gift would inspire me to buy a turntable.

Yeah, I'm keeping it. I have a turntable, but need a new cartridge.
