I have to start cutting back on CDs but I will try to get:

A Modest Mouse CD (Probably Lonesome Crowded West)
The Final Cut (I used to have a really old unmastered copy of this but gave it to a friend for his birthday)
Pixies DVD

Rypro,
As a huge Pixies fan, I have to recommend that you do not buy the Pixies best-of. Every Pixies album is great, they can do no wrong. Pickup a copy of Doolitte instead of the best-of.

Surfer Rosa is like the Come On Pilgrim EP with $5 extra given to them for recording.

It's very lo-fi, but therein lies the beauty. To me, it's their angriest album, and sometimes it's just nice to listen to Frank yell.

My favorite tracks off Surfer Rosa

1. Bone Machine (I'm still not sure what it means)
2. Break My Body
3. Broken Face
4. Gigantic
5. River Euphrates
6. Where Is My Mind?
7. Tony's Theme (This is a song about a superhero named TONY!!!)

All and all, a great album from an incredible band. The first time I listen to it, I felt a little ripped off because none of the songs jump out at you, then the next thing you know you're singing "Stranded here out of gas/out here on the Gaza Strip!" in the shower.

I second the choice to just pick up Doolittle and then go from there. To me, it's their only absolutley essential album. There's plenty of good material on each of their albums, but they wouldn't be half the band they're regarded as today if it wasn't for Doolittle, IMO.

Don't let that scare you away from checking out their other albums though. They'd still be remembered on the strength songs like Gigantic, Velouria, Where is My Mind, etc, but Doolittle cements their place as "legends."

Zip. Would like the Sabbath box, but I've got all the Castle remasters and hate to double dip.

Surfer Rosa is ABSTRACT?? I think it's catchy as hell. Geez, I wonder how you would respond to REAL avant-garde stuff like Ruins, boredoms and Leviathan.

As for the original question, this Tuesday for me it'll be:

David Cross, It's Not Funny - (one of the funniest guys around)

DVD set of Aqua Teen Hunger Force - (hilarious animated show that grows on you)

Pixies DVD - (I'm a completist)

Dresden Dolls, Self-Titled - cool music duo from Boston

Well Steve Albini produced it. I mean "recorded" it. Some bands (like Superchunk) took his name OFF production credits because it made their albums sell less if his name was on it. This was before he did "In Utero" of course.

Surfer Rose is VERY tuneful! A classic album. Their best. Check out the songs a previous poster mentioned. It make take awhile to grow on you, but those are the best kind of albums.

As for me, I'll be picking up the new Hangmen CD and the Electric Frankenstein double CD of covers.

I'll be picking up the new Mission of Burma and maybe Caetano Veloso's "Transa" if I can finally track it down.

Just curious...

Those two of you who are buying the Ryan Adams Love is Hell as one disc--did you buy pts. one and two separately already?

I see this as yet another ripoff by Lost Highway.

Yeah, this is the only bonus track.
Anybody Wanna Take Me Home (3/29 Long Version) (Bonus Track)

You would think they could at least use the extra 20 minutes to include the truckload of b-sides like Halloween and others.

Kind of ridiculous.

I know! Especially since "Halloween" and "Caterwaul" made the UK version of RnR. Did you ever pick that version up?
