Sony Essentials - CD's
This is a pretty good thing they're doing - but how does it work, permission-wise? What if an artist or group currently have a greatest hits collection out by their record company? Does Sony have to wait before releasing their compilations?
Are there any new compilations on the horizon? Doors? Bob Seger? GN'R? I know there are hits collections out for these artists, but Sony Essentials seems to capture both the hits and the classic album cuts.
*Doors: I'd just like to see what kind of mix they'd provide, compared to the many Doors collections out there.
*Bob Seger: there's two separate collections, but I'd like to see Sony collect it all on one CD
*Guns N' Roses: I'd want the hits, plus the classic album cuts currently lacking on their new Greatest Hits collection (namely, Michelle, Crazy, and Think About You)

The Doors were signed to Elektra, a division of Warner Brothers Music. Guns N' Roses were signed to Geffen, a division of Universal Music Company. I'm not sure about Seger, but I don't think he was signed to Sony Music or Columbia.
