After comparing the two songs, I've discovered that the version of "Someday" has been tinkered with. Specifically, two lines have been dropped from the song to get to the chorus faster (it's the line "Now the story's played out like this Just like a paperback novel"). The line is repeated several times throughout the song and it was deleated each time, so it definately had an effect on the running time of "Someday".

So, while Nickelback are unoriginal bastards, they aren't quite as unoriginal as this mp3 would lead you to believe.

On most their hit songs they repeat the first verse twice. Their songs are basically one long chorus. But they are catchy if not my cup of tea.

Ha.... I like the Nickels and am not afraid to admit it... like the above post said, they did tinker with these MP3's slightly... now, I did always think the songs were very similar and certainly follow the tried, tested and true "Nickelback" formula...but most of the songs rock and their live show blows the roof off the ************, so I don't care.

Wow. I don't blame him. Feel sorry for the fans though. It only took one guy to ruin it for everyone else.

I remember hearing about this. Was this some kind of festival, or a Nickelback concert? If it was just them, what is the point of spending money to boo and throw things?

Why is there so much hatred for Nickelback? I am not a big fan or anything, but it seems that many people really dislike them immensely.

Not only were the lines "Now the story's played out like this,
Just like a paperback novel" cut out of the Someday track(shortening the overall track by approximately 12 seconds), the guitar solo was lengthened by 3 seconds.
In the How You Remind Me track, the first "yet, yet, yet, no no" part has been completely removed. Also, the lines towards the end "Never made it as a wise man, I couldn't cut it as a poor man stealing, And this is how you remind me" have been cut out. One last thing - with the ending, two of the repeats of the line "Are we having fun yet, yet, yet" have been cut out. These changes cut the overall track short by about 35 seconds.

The fact that a few lines were removed doesn't really change anything though... but like others said, a lot of bands do this.

Well, if the MP3s have been altered, this whole thing is bogus! I mean, it completely changes the point of the funny!

doesn't matter. when someone on stage yells something, you yell back if you're into them or the show, regardless of the language.

Re: Whether you like or hate Nickelback, you HAVE TO hear this!

This is the biggest joke I've ever seen. You'd have to be a COMPLETE IDIOT to fall for this thing. He just pitched up Someday at most parts and pitched down How You remind Me at few parts so that they are the same length and also so that the Chorus and Verses would start at the same time. You can do this with any 2 songs of the same Genres so stopping picking on just Nickelback. I've done this with Linkin Park's In The End and Crawling and it's just like the Nickelback version. The real How You Remind me is actually 3:43 minutes long and the real Someday is 3:29 minutes long.

This is how it's supposed to sound when you put them together

Haha, somebody registered here just so they could defend a Nickelback post from 6 years ago.
Either that, or it is just an April Fool's joke.

Re: Whether you like or hate Nickelback, you HAVE TO hear this!

I'm in a cover band and we've had to learn a couple Nickelback songs (specifically Figured You Out and Something In Your Mouth). This was my first exposure to them since I always steered clear.

Man what trash. The lyrics are fucking terrible. I can't believe these guys have been on the Roadrunner label. I mean we'll play the songs since it gets asses moving and gets us paid, but wow, I can't imagine listening to a whole record's worth of these songs.

(No offense to anyone who likes them. OK, a little. )

I'm much more inclined to believe it is the latter....

(I will admit however to liking how the WWF uses one of their songs to open RAW every Monday night though....it actually fits really well in that specific usage...)

Re: Whether you like or hate Nickelback, you HAVE TO hear this!

Back in 1996 I was heading out to the "big city" from the small town I grew up, and I took my then girlfriend out for a night because I was moving to Calgary from BC the following weekend. I wanted to check out A&B Sound (which was awesome at the time) for some new music, and we got there and there was going to be an in store performance within about 30 minutes. So we waited, watched these dudes set up and they come out "Hey, we're Nickleback..." then proceeded to play some song. 2 minutes in, I leaned over to her and said "This is complete shit, and they are going to never be heard on the radio. Ever." and we walked out, laughing at how bad they were.

Guess I was wrong.
