How are the new Weezer releases?
Specifically, the expanded Blue album and the new dvd.
Are the extra tracks on the Blue album worth the more than double the $ they're charging for it (27.99 list, 19.99 sale)?
Is the dvd a no-brainer since it's only $9.99?

I'm facing the same basic delima...I'll definately pick up the DVD, but keep going back and forth today about the Deluxe Edition CD. $20 for a CD I already own + a few b-sides + several live / alternate tracks.
But it's remastered! and it has b-sides...and several live / alternate tracks...Damn the collector / packrat nature within me!

Well, i'm definitely not getting the CD since most of those songs just come from previous singles and stuff (or are just junky demos).
I'm actually on the fence about the DVD. I've heard that the quality of the live stuff on their is pretty bad, but I'd like to hear some more feedback. Also, are commentaries on each video?

There are commentaries on all the videos except the first version of Island In The Sun. Also, Rivers is not present on any of these. And, yes, some of the live stuff isn't, er, professionally shot. Though, for $10, all of their videos on DVD was enough for me to pony up the cash...
Although, for some reason, unbeknownst to me, the Hash Pipe video is cut.
And the CD is worth $20 for the ultimate =W= fans, but probably not necessarily essential. Jamie does sound a lot better than it did on the DGC comp though. Haven't really had a chance to listen to disc one, in comparison with my old copy yet though.

The DVD is worth every penny... lots of good stuff (granted, there is some pure crap, but most is good)... pick it up... don't hesitate. Any Weezer fan will be happy with this disc.
The deluxe blue doesn't come out in Canada until next week, but I'll pick that up to... especially if Jamie sounds better...one of my favourite weez tracks.

I picked up the DVD but will hold off on the CDs. Most of those Unviersal deluxe editions show up at the BMG club pretty quickly, so I can wait. Too bad they didn't just release a double CD of rarities, similar to the Pearl Jam "Lost Dogs" collection, that would have made more sense. The old blue album CD sounds fine, I don't think there was any need to remaster it.

In addition, everyone should definately turn on the commentaries. They are hillarious.

I'll be bold and say I liked Pinkerton more than the Blue Album. Now, they both are incredible albums, but I'd give a slight edge to Pinkerton.
Agreed, Green album is lame. Maybe 2 songs I can listen to repeatedly.
The DVD is pretty good. Video/audio quality on the videos is hit or miss. I was elated to see the Muppets, by the way!
