Have a drink for Bon Scott
Bon Scott, the legendary original singer and "problem child" of AC/DC, passed away 24 years ago today.
Tragically, at the time of his untimely death the band was more popular than ever; it was about to become a worldwide sensation, something Scott always strived for - see "Ain't No Fun (Waitin' Around To Be A Millionaire)". Nevertheless, Scott left behind a legacy of great songs and helped make AC/DC one of the best rock bands of all time.
So put on "Ride On" or "Highway To Hell" or any vintage AC/DC favorite of yours and light up a
And remember the immortal words: "Get your f***ing jumbo jet out of my airport!"

He will be missed. Ride On is one of the greatest AC/DC songs out there.
Truely ironic, that in order for AC/DC to produce one of rocks most prolific albums, they had to lose such a great frontman .

Maybe a little less drinking on his part and he would still be around.

Bon Scott-era AC/DC is my favorite band. With Powerage being my favorite album, there were so many great songs. Crabsody in Blue (Australia only) was my favorite tune with Bon.
He is truly missed by music-lovers across the globe.
He sure packed a lot of 'heat' for a little guy.

Greatest ROCK singer ever. Sure, there are lots of rock vocalists who have better voices (Chris Cornell, Ian Gillan, Bruce Dickinson, etc.) but for balls-out, PURE Rock and Roll from the soul, no-one could hit it like Bon. Bon's days with AC/DC epitomized Rock n' Roll: Loud, stripped down basic chords, mischievous lyrics, attitude, even primal chanting ("Oi! Oi! Oi!"), and always fun.
(And for the record, What's Next to the Moon is the greatest AC/DC song ever!)

Powerage is my favorite too.
I think I may remember him by going to this all female AC/DC tribute band tomorrow.

Bon Scott with AC/DC was one of the most driving, intense, powerful rock bands ever. Highway To Hell is a perfect rock album, in my opinion. "Walk All Over You" and "Touch Too Much" are two of my favorite songs. Bon, you are sorely missed.

Hellacopters simply kick ass. Their "By the Grace of God" is excellent, late seventies Cheap Trick-AC/DC style rock. Their earlier stuff is more punk but equally good.
Also check out the Norwegian band Turbonegro, they rock out with their cock out.
