When I was in high school, "the girl next door" broke up with her boyfriend and he proceeded to park his car outside her house and blast "I Can't Stand Losing You" by the Police. He soon got frustrated that she would not come out and talk to him, so luckily for him he had The Police's Greatest Hits CD because he fast forwarded to "Don't Stand So Close To Me" and drove off when the song was finished

Classic songs. "Are you satisfied with ****ing" is one of my favorite lines from a song.

Dave Matthews Band - "The Stone," "Grace is Gone"
Coldplay - pretty much all of their songs
112 - "It's Over Now" awesome beat
Barenaked Ladies - Call and Answer
Dirty Vegas - Days Go By (acoustic)
Maroon 5 - "This Love," "Tangled," "The Sun," "Must Get Out," "Through With You," "Not Coming Home," "Sweetest Goodbye"
Rob Dougan - "Furious Angels"
The Avalanches - "Since I Left You"
The Roots - "You Got Me"

Hmm, alot of good ones mentioned. I'll add
Questions in a World of Blue by Julee Cruise(very haunting and downright depressing at times). Definately give this one a listen, a great song. If you've seen Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me, you'll remember this song from a very depressing and powerful scene.

and of course the wonderful

Divorce Song by Liz Phair

And when I asked for a separate room
It was late at night, and we'd been driving since noon
But if I'd known how that would sound to you
I would have stayed in your bed for the rest of my life
Just to prove I was right
That it's harder to be friends than lovers
And you shouldn't try to mix the two
'Cause if you do it and you're still unhappy
Then you know that the problem is you
And it's true that I stole your lighter
And it's also true that I lost the map
But when you said that I wasn't worth talking to
I had to take your word on that
But if you'd known how that would sound to me
You would have taken it back
And boxed it up and buried it in the ground
Boxed it up and buried it in the ground
Boxed it up and buried it in the ground
Burned it up and thrown it away
You put in my hands a loaded gun
And then told me not to fire it
When you did the things you said were up to me
And then accused me of trying to f**k it up
But you've never been a waste of my time
It's never been a drag
So take a deep breath and count back from ten
And maybe you'll be alright
And the license said you had to stick around until I was dead
But if you're tired of looking at my face, I guess I already am
But you've never been a waste of my time
It's never been a drag
So take a deep breath and count back from ten
And maybe you'll be alright

Third Eye Blind - "How's it gonna be" is one I like.

I'm only pretty sure that I can't take anymore,
Before you take a swing, I wonder What are we fighting for,
When I say out loud, I want to get out of this, I wonder,
Is there anything I'm going to miss,
How's it going to be, When you don't know me,
How's it going to be, When you're sure I'm not there,
How's it going to be, When there is no one there to talk to about,
How it's going to be, 'Cause I don't care,
How's it going to be,
Where we used to laugh, There's a shouting match,
Sharp as a thumbnail scratch,
A silence I can't ignore,
Like . . The hammocks and the doorways we spent time in, Swing empty,
don't see lightning like last fall when it was always about to hit me,
I guess that is how it's going to be
How's it going to be
When you don't know me, any more
How's it going to be
Want to get myself back in again,
The soft dive of oblivion.
Want to taste the salt of your skin
The soft dive of oblivion

But you can't go wrong with "Grace is gone" DMB

I'm surprised the thread got as far as it did without mention of Idiot Wind and If You See Her, Say Hello from Blood On The Tracks.

Other classics:

Since I've Been Loving You - Led Zeppelin
Dazed and Confused - Led Zeppelin
Good Morning, Captain - Slint
