33 1/3 Book Series (about canonical albums)
Not sure how many people in these parts have heard of this, but it looks great, IMO. Most of the writers seem to be critics, though Joe Pernice (Pernice Bros.) and Colin Meloy (The Decemberists) are interesting taps.
Otherwise, I don't know what to expect since the paragraph at the top suggests that the books are more about appreciation than criticism.
I definitely plan on getting The Replacements, The Smiths, The Kinks, Prince, Joy Division, My Bloody Valentine, and Velvet Underground books. Maybe Radiohead, The Beatles, and James Brown at some point.

The Joe Pernice one sounds interesting because it's actually a short fictional novel centered around The Smiths 'Meat is Murder.' I haven't read any of them myself yet, but will also pick up a few sometime since so far they've covered a lot of my favorites.
