The Police or Sting

Simple question.

atlantamoi 01-01-04 08:31 AM

Easy answer.

Fielding Mellish 01-01-04 09:03 AM

Lemmesee - a fun amalgamation of punk and reggae influences... or endlessly-reheated adult contemporary McMusic. I think I'll go with The Police, please.

woofman 01-01-04 10:53 AM

Two words: Stewart Copland

aaah .. Sting, the master of the one-note melody. He was more digestible with the edgy sound of The Police.

The Police

Rogue588 01-01-04 08:20 PM

This was hard...i'll tell ya why:

the Police? no explanation necessary..

Sting? Dream Of the Blue Turtles & Nothing Like the Sun kick MUCH ass. Unfortunately, not much after that does..

sooooo...

I went with Sting [on the basis of those two discs and perhaps half of the Soul Cages..].

Mowork 01-01-04 08:49 PM

The Police

No question

Geofferson 01-01-04 10:11 PM

The Police, hands-down.

davidlynchfan 01-02-04 12:08 AM

The Police

kdubby 01-02-04 12:37 AM

damn, this is almost a shut out! Synchronicity is in my top 5 all time albums

iggystar 01-02-04 08:27 AM

Yes, I agree totally. Nothing Like the Sun is classic, I've listened to Be Still My Beating Heart alone an ungodly number of times. I'd have to say it's probably one of my top 10 single ever (the rest of the album as well as D of the BT is great, but after that spotty at best.

The Police, c'mon! But, the first two Sting solo albums are close to my um, beating heart.

wendersfan 01-02-04 10:42 AM

I guess the absentee ballots from aging soccer moms have yet to be counted, eh? This really is a no brainer. Even though I hated Synchronicity, the first two Police albums still hold up well, as far as I'm concerned.

cdollaz 01-02-04 10:50 AM

Aren't Sting and Elton John the same person now musically?

Turd Ferguson 01-02-04 02:04 PM

I'd say Police, but I still give Sting props for some great solo stuff. The writing on "Soul Cages" is extraordinary.

The comparison with Dame Elton John is just wrong.

Josh H 01-02-04 02:06 PM

I like both, but have to give the edge to the The Police.

That's an insult to Elton John.

sataniko 01-02-04 04:53 PM

Not really a fan of either, but I choose The Police over Sting.

KnightLerxst 01-03-04 11:17 AM

The Police. Sting lost his balls after the Police and became to mellow. (His balls being Andy on the right, and the larger nut, Stewart Copeland on the left)

Decker 01-03-04 12:32 PM

OK, how about Beatles or Wings?

;)

fumanstan 01-03-04 03:19 PM

Sting.

Fielding Mellish 01-03-04 04:56 PM

Even with just 4 votes for "SOLO", this poll is much, much closer than it has any right to be.

raiders757 01-03-04 07:21 PM

The Police!!!

Sting's solo work just bores me to tears.

shizawn 01-03-04 11:13 PM

The Police, yeah.

Next poll: The Smiths or Morrissey
