Nevermore - Enemies of Reality
I read an interview with the band in which (from the tone of the response) they were laughing about the fact that the producer had ordered an FM radio master for the production master (never mind the fact that nobody at Century Media gets measurable radio play). Horror of horrors, a quick listen to the album reveals an FM radio master! The lack of bass, EQ, high compression and general muddy sound give it away. I can imagine much anger from the band over this. I know that this was the last album on their current contract with Century Media, but shouldn't CM be trying to keep talent rather than piss them off by giving them an incompetent producer? What exactly happened at CM, anyway? Why didn't they create a new production master once the error was brought to their attention?

Though the production is very muddy, I have learned to deal with the sound. Dispite the lack of bass, this album sounds extremely pissed off and almost comes off as more heavy than it would had it been a "cleaner" production(think Metallica's And Justice For All).
But really, EoR is truely an amazing album, Loomis is a guitar god, and now that I look back on it, I wouldnt have the album any other way.
