Michael McDonald: Motown

Picked this up for $9.99 at CC today and have been listening to it all day.

Great album, full of great songs. Very deserving of the two Grammy nods (Best Pop Album and Record for "Ain't No Mountain High Enough").

I like him with the Doobie Bros and as a solo artist. He's a got deep, rich powerful voice that's pretty much stood up for the last 30 years.

Did anyone else pick this up?

I considered it, but all I have to do is watch TV for an hour to hear him rambling on about "The Neighborhood" and kill that desire.

I haven't picked it up. I really like some of tracks more than others based on the clips I've heard and the commercials. Michael's always had a very distinctive voice that can send shivers.

I bought this awhile back from tower.com for $9.99, I need to dig it out and listen to it. I just bought it at the time cause I needed like $6.01 to get free s/h and I always liked him with the Doobies. I probably would not have got it if I wasn't buying an autographed LeAnn Rimes CD from there.

Ya know, not that I've listened to the Doobies in a long long time, but I definitely prefered what they did before Michael was their lead singer. No doubt the man has a very dinstinctive voice, but it's always been clouded by weak material. Every time that phone commercial comes on the monitors in our newsroom everyone starts to groan. Great song, why remake it?
