Magnatune--check it out!
If you have the ability to listen to streaming music, or even if you don't, check out Magnatune. [I am not affiliated in any way, I just think it's cool.] http://magnatune.com/
Their mottos are 'We are not evil' and 'the open music record label.'
It's a website that produces 'open source' music--free to listen to, free to use noncommercially--and of course sells it--albums run 5-18 bucks, and the artist gets 50% of that.
Here's what they sell, and what they give away:

I'm listening to the Metal/Punk station, and the first two songs so far I've enjoyed very much--one was reminiscent of good 80's punk, and the other put me in mind of the Misfits, in sound and content matter.
They currently only offer 75 artists, 145 albums, 1915 songs, according to their statistics page, but I think this is a novel enough way to get music out there that I'm going to see what I can do to help them.
Has anyone else had any experience with this, or other music channels, other than file trading, or Etunes/Emusic/etc.? I'll admit, I'm not into music much anymore, so this might not be anything new, but it sounds good to me.
