Cusm,

Robert Smith does the vocals on all the songs I listed. You can tell it's him singing on the songs. I have the Blink-182, Junkie XL, and Earl Slick songs. I also have the Faith Healer cover from a show the Cure did last summer.

The "Yesterday's Gone" song Robert did with Reeves Gabriel gives you a kind of idea about how these songs are. You can tell it's Robert singing.

Yeah, but it guarantees everyone will click on it...even people with little to no interest in the Cure (people like me, for instance).

Not only that people who are interested in the Cure may miss this thread completely.

It's a lose-lose situation!

We were already discussing this back in November.

Bad attempt at humor, suggesting the only people that do not like the Cure would be Brittney fans.

isamu 01-05-04 03:33 PM

Thanks for the merger mods...didn't see this old one :D

BRIAN 1972 01-06-04 08:31 AM

It has been reported that the cure are also going to re-release ALL of their albums on CD with a 2nd disc to include b-side, demos, outtakes, etc. Does anyone have any other info on this, and if all of the songs that people are listing in this thread (that are not on Join the Dots) will be included on these re-issues? kinda sucks IMHO, and here I thought the B-side box would take care of all of the songs I don't have.

DJLinus 01-25-04 10:23 AM

Just a heads-up: this box set's on sale at Best Buy this week for $39.99. Can't wait!

joefrog91 01-25-04 10:52 AM

Brian 1972,

Here's an outtake of an interview Robert Smith did on a French call in show on 1/22/04.

"So was it a pleasant or painful journey, 25 years of Cure's history?

Actually it's still ongoing, because the box set was really just the start of it, because I'm going through the entire studio albums..remastering them, and every one has got an accompanying extra cd, so a lot of people haven't quite understood that this "Join The Dots" set is just the b-sides, although it says rarities, the real kind of obscure stuff is coming out on the extra cds.

Ah, well that would answer all of the fans saying "well I've got all of that already". Does that mean that you're just entirely in a kind of, certainly not a nostalgia trip, but you know, looking backwards, or is this giving you a lot of inspiration for what comes next?

Well, it kind of took up most of the middle of last year, so in fact we were supposed to be going in to the studio and recording a new record in last August, but I had to postpone it, because I wanted to get this all finished the way...because I realized there isn't really anyone else who could do this, because there isn't anyone else that's been around for the whole time. But I mean all in all it's quite...it has two sides to it really. I mean I like most of...I'm pleased with most of what we've done. There's obviously some really terrible things, but in the main, it's quite nice looking back...I haven't really taken the opportunity in the last 25 years to seriously kind of look back at what we've done, so I suppose it's quite a nice nostalgic trip really.

And even going through, you've always said not only can you not remember recording Disintegration, no not Disintegration, sorry, Pornography, but I mean did you find anything even weirder than you ever imagined?

There's a lot...I mean specifically in the very early years, there's a whole set of demos for the Pornography album, which again I have no recollection...I know it's just me on my own, and no one remembers me doing them. A lot of the early stuff, like pre-Three Imaginary Boys on the first....I think probably the most interesting, and the most varied, and the most observed extras disc is the one accompanying the first album, because that's got stuff going right back to like 1975 I think, on there. It's pretty bizarre...some of it.

RichardW 01-25-04 01:06 PM

So Join the Dots will have the b-sides and the remastered CDs will have other miscellaneous tracks.

joefrog91 01-25-04 03:06 PM

That is correct.

isamu 01-25-04 07:37 PM

Yippee!

Anyone know off-hand if this will be the best price on this set? I didn't recall seeing it in CC's ad this weekend.

Yeah, it wasn't in the CC circular. BB was the only one I saw it advertised in (no Media Play insert in this week's paper, nothing in Target's, etc.). Amazon lists the MSRP at $55, so the BB price is a tidy little discount. I don't see this being a widely promoted item, unlike, say, the new Jay-Z disc or something.

BRIAN 1972 01-27-04 09:01 AM

did anyone get this yet? i'm getting mine at lunch and then having a cure-a-thon for the rest of the afternoon at work.

isamu 01-27-04 09:06 AM

Feb 10th

Doubt anyone has it yet
