New Wyclef CD

So this came out on the 4th right? Does anyone have it? How is it? I absolutely loved The Ecleftic but I'm not really that into rap anymore. Only the good shit. No Nelly, Ja Rule, Puff Daddy or anything like that. I like actual talented people like The Roots, J5, Outkast, etc. . So what do you guys think of the new 'Clef record? Does he do his thing on the guitar or what? I haven't even heard a single off of it yet so I'm interested to hear how it is.

Don't bother. Ecleftic was decent but he slipped considerably by releasing the crappy "Masquerade" album.

I bought it, but have only skimmed through the tracks. I was less than impressed, but I still need to give it a couple of thorough listens. Haven't checked out the DVD yet, either.

Masquerade wasn't good and I like maybe half of Ecleftic. I guess I keep hoping that he'll return to the brilliance of The Carnival, which is one of my favorite albums of any genre. Maybe one day...

Hmmm. So was Masquerade the latest one? I think I will avoid it just on these reccomendations alone. I have read enough of the two of you guys posts in this forum that I know you have pretty good taste in music. Thanks for saving me 12.99 . Just out of curiosity what exactly was wrong with the album? Did he fall into the rap cliche' territory like so many others? I saw him hanging out with P Diddy on "Making the Band" and that can't be a good thing haha.

The album isn't really that bad, but it's nowhere close to the level of The Carnival. It really is better than Masquerade though.

I really like the new album Preacher's Son. I didn't hate Masquerade, but it was hardly a good album. The new one has very little rap, but the songs are quite good. Its not the Carnival,, but its a worthy purchase.
